I've played Street Fighter EX and Ridge Racer for the PS2. They're pretty good, Street Fighter is easy though. Graphically, its nice but we couldnt' get the DVD player to work though.

Yes, thank you Spartacus, you don't have to patronize me. I know the official price is $199.99 but everything's always much more expensive here in Sweden. It's impossible to find for less than $200 here, even the post-order companies has it for $200+.

Darth Arash> Where did you play those? Are you Japanese or something?

Darth Arash, did you buy your PS2 from Japan? If so, how much did you have to pay for it?

I finally found the article I've been looking for. It compares the Dreamcast games's graphics to the PS2 games's graphics. Here's the link: http://www.dailyradar.com/features/game_feature_page_409_1.html http://www.dailyradar.com/features/game_feature_page_409_1.html

Actually you could probably add a few more names to that list like Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, and Driver. However, with many developers interested in the X-box, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a lot of these Playstation games heading for the for the X-box.

Here are a few games that make the Dreamcast worth buying:

    <LI>Sonic Adventure
    <LI>Sonic Adventure 2
    <LI>Soul Calibur
    <LI>Crazy Taxi
    <LI>Super Runabout
    <LI>Tony Hawk 2
    <LI>Sega GT
    <LI>Ecco the Dolphin
    <LI>MSR
    <LI>Eternal Arcadia
    <LI>Grandia 2
    <LI>Fur Fighters

These are just a few games for the DC and YES, most of these games are Sega exclusives. I just heard about Fur Fighters today, but boy does it look good. Link: http://dreamcast.ign.com/previews/11072.html http://dreamcast.ign.com/previews/11072.html

Has it been confirmed that Star Wars Online will be coming to the PS2?

That's what I was about to ask. Everything I've ever read about it hasn't said a single thing about it being a PS2 game. It's for the PC.

Sure, this game may only hit the PC, but if Sony's broadband network is up and running it would be a natural for the PS2.

Franz Flash, I think I see where you got all those games that would make PS2 worth buying, including Star Wars Online. It was at: http://dailyradar.com/features/game_feature_page_506_1.html http://dailyradar.com/features/game_feature_page_506_1.html . Here's a bit of a warning about Daily Radar, they are so biased it's not even funny. Even though they report on other systems, they are still Sony fans through and through. They even wrote an editorial on how the X-box will not blow the out of the water PS2. How do they know that? All we know about the X-box are the specs, which are a lot better then PS2's, that it has 4 controller ports, which are a lot better than PS2's 2 controller ports, that it can play DVDs like the PS2, and that tons of developers are excited about the X-box, including some of Sony's biggest developers, like EA. It's crazy. Have you read the reply from the developer? You know, the one where he claims the X-box will kick the PS2's ***. It's pretty good, I recommend it.

However, if we take what we know about Star Wars Online, and combined it with what PS2IGN said, http://ps2.ign.com/news/16740.html http://ps2.ign.com/news/16740.html , I think there's a very good chance it will come to the PS2. However, we shouldn't assume anything this early, we should only pray that it does happen.

Oh, and here's some more stuff on PS2's problems: http://ps2.ign.com/news/16719.html http://ps2.ign.com/news/16719.html

Is it just me or does anybody else find it a little disturbing to see Chewbacca holding a big mug of beer? You know, I guess I just never thought of Chewie as being the drinking type. Here all this time I kinda looked up to him, but now it turns out he's just an alcoholic...

I just had to get that off my chest. Anyway, it looks as if there won't be 4 consoles battling it out after all, it's now going to be 5. Link: http://www.gamefan.com/hotinfo.asp?s=5763&rs=www.gamefan.com/hotinfo.asp?s=5763&rs=

Spartacus&gt; I wish I wouldn't agree with you cause I don't want this thread to die , but I'm afraid the X-Box may beat the PS2, but then again, there's 2 more 128-bit systems MS have to beat with their damned X-Box. We know to little about Dolphin and X-Box to know who's gonna beat who, all I know is that Sony has all my trust.

Wald&gt; That's one damn good reason to buy a DC and I'm actually considering buying one if I only could afford it.

Another reason to buy the PS2:

We know for a fact that LucasArts is looking to announce a major set of games for the PS2 at E3 in May, but exactly which titles, we aren?t sure of, yet. However, we did find out that it won?t be a port or re-creation of the PC first-person action title, Obi One, which it was rumored to be. The game will be a brand new, completely original game, set in the Star Wars universe (did we even need to say that last part?).

Lucas Arts is also making Star Wars games for the Dolphin and the N64. I think there's a good possibility that the Dolphin and PS2 game could be the same.

Whoa. SW Online for the PS2? No way! I pray that they keep it for PC, which it looks like they will be doing. Seriously, that would restrict a lot of people because a hell of a lot more people own PCs than any one video game console.

As for LucasArts, they haven't favored one single system yet. Racer was released for PC, N64, and DC, whereas TPM was released for PC and PS. Jedi Power Battle so far is PS only, and there is at least one other N64/Dolphin SW games in the works. So LucasArts hasn't favored one system yet.

I can't believe someone is trying to push a fifth video game console, which isn't really a video game console in the first place. Basically, it's a big machine with many capabilities, only one of which being actual games. The line between PC and game console grows blurry with X-box and Indrema's LINUX console. My personal belief is that in the end, only the gaming consoles with great games will survive, and there aren't enough good developers for 5 systems. We'll see which one or two fail.

You're right! How could I have ever been so blind? Those points you brought up are just amazing. I can't believe I didn't think of them. I think you should seriously consider writing a book on this, convincing people that Nintendo is for kiddies. I know you've changed my views.
    Grow up.

If you're going to state your opinion atleast say something that backs it up. All you have done is shown us all that you aren't mature enough to hold a decent discussion.

Hrm.. I actually believe that PS2 will be successful if for nothing else, its RPGs. ( my #1 reason for a planned purchase). Thats really the only thing holding the PSX up anyway. Great selection of 'em. Nintendo64 has always failed in this area. Quest64 was a good attempt but it was really horrible.

Im not all that familar with the Dreamcast, but I am not aware of any at all for Sega.

Its all about the RPG my friends. :) There is a huge market for them and its growing stronger everyday. The maybe-I'll-work-maybe-I-wont DVD player, backwards compatibility, and the great RPGs that will pour out from Sony will sell this ***** in record numbers. But dont fool yourselves into thinking that Nintendo is going anywhere. They have always managed to survive and they will in this case too.

aguywithabiggun: I agree that N64 has had poor RPGs, but I hear that Harvest Moon 64 is really good, so I'm going to get that. But I disagree that PS2 will win solely because of RPGs.

Here is just a piece of the interview that Daily Radar had with Ian Byers, programming coordinator for Aidyn Chronicles at H20:

Daily Radar: In your opinion, why doesn't the N64 have more RPGs? Is it more hardware related, market related or... what?

Ian Byers: I think that it is related to both hardware and market issues. With the N64 not having a CD drive, you miss out on all of the pretty full motion video that can be used very effectively when telling a story. With the Final Fantasy series and other RPGs using FMV on the PSX, the modern gamer is almost expecting to sit back and enjoy some movies throughout the progress of the game.

Here is also another piece from the editorial at the beginning:

Whatever the reason may be, RPG companies have forsaken Nintendo, opting to jump to the Sony PlayStation, whose newfound popularity and larger CD-ROM medium propelled the RPG genre to unforeseen heights of gigantic worlds and jaw-dropping FMVs -- and in the end gave the genre an entirely new look.

I would say the reason the Playstation had more RPGs is because of the CD drive. However, now that the Dolphin will be using CDs and will be easier to develop for, I don't think it will be hard to find RPGs on Nintendo's new system.
