Trailer I know for sure I won't be playing it, but for horror/suspense fans this looks great. That's one hell of a trailer. Also, there's a recut trailer that flows in chronological order here.
Why won't you be playing it? It looks cool and the trailer is awesome (not as awesome when re-cut, admittedly) but I'm afraid it'll Dead Rising on an island...
It is a very good trailer but I won't be surprised if this ends up being a Left 4 Dead clone or something.
Because I'm a pansy. Horror games and I don't mix. Also, Hollywood's already itching to make it into a movie. Click.
What? We've only just seen a trailer and already they want to make it into a film? That's just crazy.
That's Hollywood for you. I remember Dead Island back when it was competing against L4D while Dead Rising was still fresh in people's minds. No one really paid much attention to it back then (despite me vaguely remembering how the features sounded rather cool) only getting a couple of flimsy articles in dedicated game mags. Now it seems to have taken the net by storm. Says a lot about the power of a computer animated, cinematic trailer IMO.
I think it says more about the state of society, IMO. Most people see an article and go 'TL;DR' or don't look very hard for stuff that's not on the net, but they'll watch a video because they just have to sit there and enjoy. That said, and I might be overly cynical there, but a picture really does paint a thousand words, and a of in game action can tell you more than an article can.
Trailers are often misleading, I don't even watch them. How many games (and movies) look awesome in trailers and turn out to be crap?
Creator of Dead Island trailer talks about the creative process. So the trailer was built with the in-game engine. Thought the trailer looked a little stiff for CGI animation. Also interesting to note that he doesn't deny that the family will make an appearance in the actual game...
There's another OXM Report on Dead Island. The more I hear about this game the better it sounds. I'm still not convinced I'll get it just yet, but I am looking forward to what will come out about it at E3.
Sadly the local game shop where I'm buying it isn't having a midnight release, but I'll post impressions tomorrow. IGN gave it an 8/10 and called it "Fallout 3 with zombies."
I'll pass. For now. I love Zombies as much as the next guy, but this just looks like L4D: Caribbean Vacation.
The Gamespot review I read said that this game borrows heavily from L4D, but does a clumsy job doing so. Plus it's focus isn't on coop/online like L4D was. Rather, it seems to focus more on RPG elements and up-close action (not quite RPG, not quite FPS). Apparently it does many things well but I would love if this game had offline coop like L4D does. While L4D's online multiplayer was superb, playing L4D offline makes for some great fun if you have friends over (or if you have a significant other who also loves zombies). Sadly, this won't be on my wish list seeing as how it lacks offline coop.
I heard a patch was released on the day of release to fix 37 in game issues. 37... I'm sorry but if the game was that unpolished then a release delay was in need. Consider my interest in the game dead. (Pun not intended)
I'm tempted to reserve judgement until learned internet writing peoples make comments (rock paper shotgun will do). Remember Vampire Bloodlines? Bugged to high heaven, one of the greatest PC games ever.
