PT casting vs. OT casting?

    Does anyone know if Lucas cast the PT in groups, or if he cast the parts individually?

    Because when GL was casting the OT, he gathered the people auditioning for various roles into groups, with a Vader, Obi-Wan, Luke, etc. and mixed them around to see what worked best together. I was just considering the possibility that this might be why the actors seemed to have a greater chemistry together than the actors in the PT do - because the OT actors were cast as an ensemble.

    There wasn't that much group mixing in the OT, it was mainly with Luke/Leia/Han in testing.

    It was about the same for the PT. I know Hayden tested with Portman and (I think) McGregor as well. Neeson and McGregor tested together for TPM. I don't really know beyond that though...hopefully someone will know better than me :)
