As taken from the back of "Tales of Phantasia":

Note: Basic reading skill required for full enjoyment of this game.

    Gee.
Really? You have to know how to read?

The sad thing is someone probably made a complaint/sued that there isn't a warning saying this game requires the ability to read.

Yeah, what next? A note saying that you need to fully functional arms and hands and all fingers intact to fully enjoy an fps game due to the keyboard-mouse scheme? Oh, wait! Don't forget you need to have good vision also to enjoy these games... [face_plain]

    ...hmm...I shouldn't give these people ideas....oh well... :p

LOL That reminds me of a warning on a stroller reminding parents to remove the child before folding.[face_plain]

Besides everyone should know that if your playing an RPG you better know to read.

Speaking of signs, I took this shot in town:

    [image=http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c392/anakinsockwalker/sign.jpg]

You can't really see it (because it's not on), but there's an light that is a crossout of a turn arrow. I mean do we really need this much to get the point for one of the lanes?

That's not entirely true, you just have to rebind some stuff. ;)

Actually, they should just put "Common Sense" under System Requirements. Problem solved. (You'd think.)

Way back in the day, I read the manual for Double Dribble for the NES. It told me I needed a "working knowledge" of basketball to play the game. I was like, "Wow, I have a working knowledge of something. Cool." Gimme a break, I was 12.

Yeah, you'd think all the warning you need for these types of packages is "Common Sense"....

There is a notice on a Childs Superman outfit that states.

There is an award given every year for dumbest warnings labels by a group that fights frivalous lawsuits, last year was from a glue gun that read "Not meant to be used as a hair dryer"

I was carrying a box once. In the box was wine, but I didn't know it was in there. It was like a portable wine cooler sort of thing.

Anyways, I turned it upside down and on the bottom of the box it said "WARNING: Do not turn box upside down."

    ...

    My reaction? "Oh my --"

I had a computer part from Taiwan once that included instructions on how to safely handle the box inside the box.

My dad got a mini-fridge for christmas and when we were unpacking it we found that there were unpacking instructions not just inside the box, but inside the fridge. [face_plain]

To be fair, I think there's the slight chance that whoever wrote that advisory on the game box meant it for parents of underage children (who clearly haven't nailed down their 3 R's) so that they knew that the game wasn't for toddlers. It's a stretch, but you have to consider that some parents will buy their kid any game just because the kid thinks it's "purty" or just to buy them SOMETHING that will entertain them instead of buying appropiate stuff for them (like a few grownups I saw in X-Mas past that were looking for Grand Theft Autos to give to their clearly underage kids).

Again, it's a stretch. But I figure the odds favor a brain-fart on the part of whoever designed the packaging. [face_plain]
