I read some speculation once that green was some way of portraying a bit of rebelliousness.

    Luke:
Doesn't follow yoda and obi-wan's council

Qui-gon: Defiant, would train Anakin anyway

    and extrapolate that to:
    Anakin:
Well, we know how HE acts.

    Possibly a theme running throughout?

    Or easily coincidence.

Just to plug ourselves yet again, COTS had several purple blades. Douz (bad guy) used one and Master Shoten (good guy) had 2 short blades which were both purple. :)

"The blade's color depends on the nature of the jewel it springs from.

Yes, I know this quote, but how do you get 'If the gem is blue the saber is blue' out of this? The nature of a jewel is not its color.

Yoda does WHAT he wants, WHEN he wants.

The only reason he's not a rebel is because he MAKES the rules.

Venardhi, havent you ever messed with color prisms or jewels? The coler of the blade is directly dependent on the focusing crystal. You are saying a green crystal can make a red blade etc.. , and that makes less sense than a Star Trek exploding console. :)

Guys, Mace Windu/aka Samuel Jackson has a purple lightsabre so it will look cool and he'd be able to point it out to his little girl on screen. NO other reason.

    Ok, let me have it!

I agree with what DorkmanScott said on page one. Purple IS just a good color. That and people like to overuse things in fan-films that were'nt already overused in the movies and what has been used in movies that they want to use for themselves. Look at all of the double bladed saber fights, two saber saber fights, badly done kung-fu style saber fights, and not to mention the Darth Maul rip-off villains and "of the" in titles, and all of these darned forest battles, etc, etc, etc... I say, your film, your rules, and I think that's exactly what the fan film effect artists are saying.

Here's a list of saber colors I have seen alot in fan films.

    -Green
    -Purple
    -Yellow
-Orange....(okay, not too much of that)
    -Red
    -Irritating shades of Cyan
    -pink
-Rainbow......okay.....so I saw that in a bad effects clip.....pretty funny really

    -Matt

Oh... let's not forget to cut those double blades in half...can't forget that for originality. ;)

Purple is the colour, especially good for lightsabres in fact.

But it has to be a specific shade, none of this reddy purple stuff. I needs to be this colour purple, or this, or the cloak in this picture, or the purple in my name. Hmmm, do you think maybe I'm obsessed by purple as well?

We have purple in our film for the Sith Witches, it was an idea I had a year ago. Our first trailer back in November of last year shows it. I chose purple because it seemed an appropriate color for a witch.

As far as the good old cut the double blade in half, I have a different trick up my sleeve. ;)

Maybe my character in my film should have a purple doubled-edged lightsaber and a purple cloak as well as purple hair?

'Purple is just a "good" color?'

Yes. But is it a "bad" color?

What I mean is.... would a Star Wars story be breaking the rules by having a bad guy with a purple saber?
Even though Mace Wyndu is a 'bad MF' and a good guy.
Not that I follow rules or anything.... I would just prefer to be as close to 'cannon' as possible, in the SW Universe.

    Does that make sense?

That reminds me, I play the star wars rpg and my good Jedi has a red lightsaber. He found it in some sith ruins that were thousands of years old. And the batteries still worked!
