Question about Star Wars: Rogue Squadron: Rogue Leader

I'm just wondering how you are able to access all ships in levels where you can use multiple ships.If you don't get what I mean,I mean that when you select a mission and they show the ships,some are highlighted green,and some are red,how do I get all ships red?do I have to do something in particular to access all,and is there a code to unlock all ships to access at all times.

If I remember correctly. you have to beat the level with the default ship, then you can go back and select a different ship. I'm not positive on that, it's been a while since I've played. There are codes, which you can find here and a number of other places.
