My I gave my friend a few of my tests to him on a CD in DivX format. He didnt have the divx codec so I told him where to download the latest verson.

He did so, and He was able to watch the shots in the Divx player, but not in windows media player.

Why is this, and how do we fix this? (we need it in windows media player so we can transfer it to his palm device.)

its default program is already set to open as windows media, the problem is this:

When i double click on the file, it opens windows media and sais
"The file format is invalid. (Error=8004022F)"

when i open the divx player, and go to file, open and browse to the file, it plays normally.

How can i get it to work on both?

you have to make sure it is saved as an .avi not a .divx

Most likely the actual codec *.dll's didn't get installed into the system directory. At work, my computer is strictly administrated so I can't write anything into the windows or system directory. I can watch Divx movies, but only with the player.....
