    Takk for det anbefaling.

    Interessant storie:

Norge er...Norway is..what is that there?"

"I think it is better?", sier andre damer

Jeg sier "Yes I wrote that oh are you from Norway?"

    "No I am from Sweden"

"Nei, men jeg besøkt norge for tre år siden"

    "So you are from Norway?"

I thought that was great. So apparently I can fool a swede into thinking I am a neighbor ;)

Not bad for a viking-vil-gjerne-å-vær (forresten dette er min forsøk til oversette 'wannabe')

    :p

    Saluton! : Hei!
Mia nomo estas dod. : Mitt navn er dod.
    Kaj via? : Og ditt?

G^is la revido : Ha det.

Forgive me for using english but I got a class in a few minutes and it takes me about 5x as long to use Norwegian...

Esperanto was a great idea at the beginning of the the last century (or even two centuries ago) but English has become the World's language.

I am not sure about your opinions on this but I think that English is a very "rich" language. Especially American-English because there are so many outside influences that formed it.

You can say the same thing multiple times without repeating the phrasing.

Which is why we all know what a Smorgasbord is(and a fjord).

Though that makes it complicated in order to learn the variations.

What do you all think? Perhaps I am too much of a flag waiving American?

[face_laugh] That's a good British one - 'Come on, you old sausage!' LOL

I think I'd go with 'Bare spill med', Joey. Is this one for the girls, btw? ;)

English is rich when compared to Norwegian, for example. Norwegian is actually a very poor language. But I'm sure English can also be seen as poor when compared to certain other languages. I'm not sure, but I think I heard something once about English being far from the richest language around...

Btw, I love the richness of British English myself. Just check out the incredible ways of saying stuff as displayed in bits of television like Black Adder! :)

I know that in German "play the primadonna" is "act the offended sausage"

Adali: perhaps ;) I actually want to be able to use that phrase to impress people in the event that I run into someone that speaks Norwegian. I can just recite Alt for Norge or something like that, and those around me will think I am very fluent :p

Oh, and I when I said English was a "rich" language, I mean rich insofar as it draws upon many other languages.

For example, the French seem to go to extremes to exclude English from their language. However, French will enter English at times.

    C'est la vie ;),

    Joey;

Yes, French will enter English quite often. English is itself invaded by a great number of French and German words. The language you speak over there is (as far back as we are able to study) a result of Nordic and Celtic and German and [put in whatever form of ancient European language you may find] languages and influences. English is one great melting pot of European languages, actually. As a Norwegian, I know that a lot of my talking is coming from English, but a lot of the stuff that is known as English is also taken right out of my very own mother's tongue.

    It's a wonderful world! :)

    Fy Faen.

    Takk.
