Helen is 100% correct about CIII. It is Indy in 2003. Start getting time off from work!

What color s the fluid? My POS Taurus leaked several different kinds... you only really have to worry if it's orangish-red...

I think it's dark, grey/black/brown. I'm not exactly sure. Mr. DH thinks it's oil. That would be especially bad since I just got it back from the service department a week ago.

A commonly missed thing in "regular checkups" is the condition of the Head Gasket (and yes, I would also assume it's oil, ESPECIALLY since it just came back from service.), a plausible (especially on Taurii) reason for your mystery Oil leak. As long as it's not Brake or Tranny fluid, you can just dump more of whatever fluid it is in and not worry (too much) about getting it fixed, as the MG should take financial priority (although it seems you'd be trading one maintenace nightmare for another, yet cooler, one)

Thanks for the advice, TK. Yes. I am trading one financial disaster for another but with my MG, I don't really mind. It's actually rather funny, Mr. DH mentioned the fluid leak and I immediately suspected the MG, after all, what's an English car without a leaky fluid line or something like that somewhere and electrical problems. Well, when he told me it was the Taurus, that was really the end. Mr. DH also suspected it was oil. MAN! I really severely dislike my car. Jay, if I could get those parts, I would appreciate it. Perhaps you can find someone to make them for me in Galaxies. Where's a good wookie mechanic when you need one.

BTW, Jay, I love your new avatar. That was undoubtedly my favorite scene in all of the Special Editions. There is something magical about a herd or Banthas roaming the dunes of Tatooine.

I agree with DH. The pack of wild banthas roaming the dunes is a mystical sight indeed.

I brought up the issue in the Jedi Council forum, and got blasted for it. ..they kept saying "that was so YESTERDAY'S discussion" Bunch of losers over there who do nothing but post crap all day.

    Are you at work?

I am glad someone was in to keep the City going over the holidays. I took the day off to work on cleaning the after Christmas Dinner mess - 18 place settings of china and silver, hand wash only - plus too many pots and stuff to count. Then I worked on my Tantive IV. I finished that Sunday morning at 1:30. I was super tired for church but fortunately it was an interesting sermon, not something that happens very often...

    [soapbox]

Here's a complaint: Why is it that the "Guardians of Righteousness and Civil Equality" try to make everything into a racial issue?

Case in point: LotR is RACIST! (Linked here)

While this is obviously extreme leftism in its ugliest form, let's look at the real "issue":

LotR was written by a middle-aged upper middle-class white man from the stodgy confines of the lower upper-class of English society. It was written in VERY simplistic, Black-and-White language, suggestive of a target audience of late-youth, early teen. Its subject matter is medieval in nature, and the characterizations are perfect for that period.

Were there a lot of people of color in europe in the High Dark Ages? Errrrrr, NO! The only ones that were were fringe tribes that were as of yet unconquered by more "civilized" Urban societies. They painted themselves, fought savagely, and used exotic animals and weapons in combat. They came from places "to the east", India, Persia, Assyria, Egypt, Northern africa (the Southrons (Corsairs of Umbar, who coincide with the Barbary Pirates, who set up shop in the late 1200s and terrorized the Mediterranean until well into the "Enlightenment" and the Haradrim, who coincide with the by then extinct Carthaginians (Moors))

It is also written in the style of the Heroic Epic, supposedly translated from the Red Book written by Bilbo, Frodo and Samwise. A Heroic Epic, like Gilgamesh or the Bhagavad Gita, paint the good guys and the bad guys in much the same light, (well, in the Bhagavad Gita the good guy rides the elephant, but whatever) are these "racist"? No! theyre historic documents to be revered and studied by the very academicians who espouse these ridiculous notions about the hidden, innocuous agenda lying just beneath the surface of "American Culture" that are threatening our children and making the world unsafe for the glorious homogenization of our Bergeron-esque societal Utopia that they seem to love so deeply.

The story doesn't espouse Racism, it espouses choosing good over evil, Order over Chaos, etc. Speciesism, yeah, Orcs are bad, People (Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Hobbits) are good. Humans can be corrupted by the absolute evil of Sauron (Mouth of Sauron, Ringwraiths, Easterlings and Southrons) and the hardier Magical races are more resistant but not immune to his diabloical schemes.

If there is any hidden psychological meaning to it all, it's about Social Mobility (Aragorn goes from a simple woodsman to king of the greatest Empire in some 750 years, gets a new name and title... the sort of dreams a man of the upper crust of English Society, but not of titled origins would dream of)

Gandalf is Merlin reworked, throwing a healthy dose of Arthurian Legend into the mix... Narsil is reforged as Anduril (instead of a "watery tart lobbing a scimitar at him"), ad nauseum...

But I digress. The "watchdogs of society" would have you believe that there is hidden peril in everything we Hear, Speak, See, Touch or Taste. They won't be satisfied until we all look the same, eat the same foods, watch the same TV, play the same games, etc. Conform or be ridiculed, since we can't publicly execute those who are different. <--- A bit of extremism of my own, but intentionally exaggerated, and noted here, so as not to be confused as my "gospel truth", pushing my socio-political policies of mediocrity and homogenization onto you all.

Lastly, and most irritating of all, is the place that extremists of either side of the political spectrum (what happened to up and down, why do we have to be Right or Left?) seem to be coming from. BEWARE! We know and you don't! We're smarter than you, we know better, believe us! We have your best interests at heart! Pah. If you want to do anything "for my own good", you'll quit looking for dragons under pebbles. I'll form my own opinions and happily defend them against the onslaught of liberal and conservative extremism alike. Remember, the Nazis were Socialists, and the Ayatollah Khomeni wa

Amen, TK and CBM. People have to stop letting the media tell them what to think and start thinking for themselves. It's always annoying when they throw in "tokens" into shows just to show diversity. Any way, that's my two cents.

    Very well thought out statement.

But what was this rant and rage in response to? I scanned this thread several pages back, an could not find anything that would provoke such a dissertation.

JJ... It is in response to the article on the front page of TFN regarding the article that I linked to at the beginning of my soapbox rant. It was a complaint, so I thought it'd be best to post it here, rather than the RotK thread.
