There is no doubt that it is Qui-Gon's voice yelling 'Anakin!' twice, but the 'No!' sounds a lot like Cliegg Lars to me... It doesn't sound like Qui at all, but I'll accept whatever the novelization says about this. Could someone please provide a quote from it?

I still don't understand why anybody thinks its Anakin. It sounds nothing like him. There is no reason to lead anybody to that conclusion. Why? Give an explanation to why anybody thinks that it SOUNDS LIKE Anakin.

It doesn't sound like Anakin or Qui Gon to me so in that sense I'd think you'd have to give it the benefit of the doubt and attribute it to Gui-Gon. Especially if the novelization says that. Anybody got a script? What does the script say?

If the script says Qui Gon it's sealed, it's Qui-Gon. Even though it might not be Liam Neeson.

As for the foreshadowing it could mean a number of things. I'm hoping it means that Qui is able to talk to one of the characters from beyond. Even if we can't see his body because it was destroyed. Maybe he can still TALK to obi-wan and tell him the secret of how to turn into a spirit or something. Who knows, and then Obi tells yoda.

The script acknowledges Qui-Gon for the quote.

    I can't stand this.

    IT IS QUI-GON'S VOICE!!!!

    Not Clieg Lars (what the...)!!!

    Not Anakin.

    Not Obi-Wan.

Not some vision of the future....

    IT'S QUI-GON!!

    The official novel confirms it!!!!!

Why is this thread 7 pages long?!?!?!?!

    Wait.

    WHY IS THIS THREAD HERE?!?!

Ok, did you boys even hear the sample? Did you hear it multiple times like the rest of us did? Listen again if you don't believe us. There is no doubt, I repeat, no doubt that the voice is Anakins. ANAKIN says the No... regardless of what the script or novelization says.

I listened to the sample. In fact I posted that it didn't sound like either Neeson or Christenson in which case I deferred to THE SCRIPT!!!

Fact is, anyone else saying "noo" but Qui-gon makes a boat load of no-sense.

    OMG

It sounds nothing like him. It doesn't SOUND like anybody. Its way too gutteral to be Anakin, hence all the people that think its Cliegg. I have listened to it many, many times, and it does NOT sound like Anakin. I think that it just may be wishful thinking for some people. Yes, it may be cool to have a bit of foreshadowing, but accept the fact that it is not Anakin.

The script says it and the novel says it. Its Qui-Gon. Its really very simple.

Qui-Gon didn't say it, Anakin didn't say it. I really don't know who said it.

To those who keep saying the book answers our questions: please remember that the movies and books do not ALWAYS mirror each other. In TPM, for example, Qui-Gon was 60-years-old. He obviously wasn't in the movie.

GL did not make the movie so you'd have to read a book for answers!

The only thing we DO know: it's not clear exactly who's voice it is.

    :)

Its actually Grand Admiral Thrawn's voice, when he realizes that the Emperor, which is really the half brother of Palpatine, has been killed by Darth Vader ( a clone of the original clone of Anakin).

Its a clue to episode three, which is a clue to episode 4.5 which is a fan film done in the spirit of TPM which is a tribute to an obscure Ovaltine commercial from the 1960's.

(Thought this would get the conversation going again)

Please discuss amongst yourselves. There will be an exam later. ;)
