Quick planet help needed

Hey, just looking for a good tutorial on making planets with photoshop. I did some looking on previous threads and I found a great one, but unfortunately it says that I have to have 7.0, and I only have 6.0. Now I did not run through the tut to see what the differences are, but it made it pretty clear that I had to have the newer one. Does anyone know how I can do this with 6.0? Thanks!

Run through it anyway, and if you encounter a problem, come back and be specific.

 

I don't have the "linear dodge" mode for anything, and when I try to set the picture as a texture for the airbrush, it keeps the boarders, that's as far as I got, as everything from that point needs more "linear dodge" stuff.

 

here's my version of a tut:

draw the basics with the paintbrush... then gaussian blur...

but thats the simple way...

although if you really want to, you can also do a gradient...

I used his tutorials with 6 and it went fine. I don't remember running into any serious differences either. I used his star field and planet tutorials for this pic and it worked real nice for me.
