    not sure if anyone knows or cares, but one of the world's finest singer-songwriters died earlier today.

    Elliott Smith, aged 34, was found dead earlier today of a self-inflicted stab wound.

    Although his name wasn't well known outside of indie-rock circles, Elliott gained some fame for his song "Miss Misery", which was the theme to the Gus Van Sant film "Good Will Hunting" Elliott performed the song at the '98 Academy Awards, alongside more famous acts like Madonna and Celine Dion.

    Rest in peace Elliott ...

    I heard about this earlier today too, quite sad... he was so young.

    This year has been terrible, so many of entertainments heroes and giants have died.
