ST R2-D2 in two places at once? Film goof, a different R2 unit, or...?

    (In the absence of the search function, I browsed several pages of threads and didn't see any about this; if there's an older one I didn't see, please pardon, and let me know.)

    At the end of TFA when Rey and Chewbacca take off to go find Luke; in the crowd staying behind seeing them off we see Leia, C-3PO, BB-8, and R2-D2, amongst others.

    When they arrive at the mystery planet and Rey continues on foot, we see Chewie stay with the Falcon, along with...R2!

    So I'm wondering if it's two different R2 units (in which case I presume the R2 that remained behind was some other R2 that coincidentally happened to be there), or if it's a simple goof.


    ...or if one of them is an imposter R2 spying for Snoke and the characters didn't notice. ;)

    someone posted a picture of this scene last week, the R2 unit mentioned is in the right corner I believe. R2D2 would most certainly be front and center with BB8 and 3P0
