Did all of you hear about R2-D2's induction into the newly established Robot Hall of Fame ?

Congratulations Artoo, they really like you (but we already knew that).

Well, at the celebration scene at the end of JEDI, he shows he has mastered the ability of Force Lightning... And, you think that R5 D4's motivator blew up by chance? Hell no. Artoo foresaw Luke's destiny and he knew that Luke needed artoo to get started on his journey so Artoo popped that motivator of R5's on purpose.

Although R2 is one of my favorite characters (the other being c3p0), i think c3p0 gets more mention because he saved Leia,Luke, chewy, and Han from the "crunch" of that garbage pit. :)

If it wasnt for him the Star Wars saga that we all know and love would have never made it past the first movie :)

'Bout time! If it wasn't for him, practically every major character in the Star Wars universe would be dead like 5 times over!

The only thing in that article that kind of irks me is that the writer keeps switching between "it" and "him" when referring to Artoo. Some people have no respect at all for war heroes 8-}.

In my opinion SW is not about the Skywalker family, but about one little droid who saves the galaxy countless times. Skywalker only gets the credit because of the droid.

Artoo is the hero of the Saga.

It is also about time he got the recognition that he deserves!

I think this thread may have served its purpose. Maybe someone should lock it up and swallow the key. :D

I agree! And tragic, too! R2 is such a wonderfully heroic character and how do they reward that? They take out his rockets!!!
