Holy cats, this movie is awesome. One of the rare films I'd give a 6 outta 5. It's that good.

Definitely a fantastic movie. Just a classic adventure flick. Likeable, believable characters and an interesting plot. Watching the ark obliterate the Nazis is one of my favorite movie moments. It's iconic in a sense. When I saw that scene for the first time as an eight year old kid, it blew my mind. I literally had the images engrained in my head for weeks afterward. I couldn't imagine a worse way for somebody to go.

This was one of the first films I ever saw on VHS when we first had a huge top loading Ferguson video player in the mid 80s. I thought this film had a real adult tone to it too, and it felt big to watching this with my dad and in amongst it was some light hearted moments too.

Whenever I hear the opening music in the jungle it just takes me straight back to watching it for the first time, I thought the opening music was eerie, such a great score. Arguably the best opening sequence to a movie ever?

watching star wars and indy as a child in the 80's formed my love of film. oh and of course spielberg's other films, jaws, close encounters. e.t. was the first film my brain can recall watching in a theater even though i had been to movies before that one.

I've actually considered marrying this movie. Even if it means *I* have to be the wife. Unlike most, I genuinely like all the Indy films equally (though each for slightly different reasons) but I will say that I honestly think Raiders is the best films Spielberg ever directed.

I have a few problems with "RAIDERS". But my biggest is the presence of a German regiment moving freely about Egypt and harassing the citizens. I find it hard to believe that both the Egyptian government and the British government (which had armed troops stationed around Suez in 1936) would allow this to happen.

I love so many of the background characters and bit actors in this movie. Imam, the Monkey Man, Giant Sherpa, German Mechanic, the Nazi who smiles back at Indy when the laborer falls off the truck, and the dancing guys at the dock when Indy and Marion board the Bantu Wind are some that spring to mind.

Raiders of the Lost Ark is one of those movies that you must watch before you die, along with Back to the Future, original Star Wars trilogy and the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

I've been rewatching the Indiana Jones series the last few days, and I have to say Raiders of the Lost Ark is probably my third favorite film behind The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars. It's a borderline perfect movie.

    Sorry for the late response.

While not my favorite film trilogy, there's still enough to like about it for at least one viewing. And if you like it more viewings. :p

I like the Basket Chase. The bit where he's chasing it and all he can hear is 'Jones!' Then the market where the camera pans back to reveal hundreds of them. Brilliant.

One of my favorite scenes is when the Monkey Man gives the Nazi salute and the German agent returns it, then the monkey does it and the German does it again. Their allegiance to the Fuhrer was so strong that they didn't even think about it, they just do it, regardless of who salutes them.
