For anyone curious about this year's visual effects: I did the vast majority of them myself using Hitfilm Express - They did a SW short film called "Rebellion" to showcase how their software can do certain visual effects. There are also a bunch of YouTube tutorials that show how to do certain effects in the software, which is how most of them got done this year. Since there's downtime now, couldn't hurt to throw it out there to see if other members were interested in toying around with the software to try their hand at some VFX shots.

The Express software is free, and there are add-ons you can pay for if you like (I bought one for $25). There's also a Pro version for $350 but you can do a lot of 2D effects with the free version just fine.
