Easily the two best of the saga and very difficult for me to say which I like more. Slight edge to ESB maybe because I grew up with it, but it's almost too close to call.

Equally great, but I gotta give the slight edge to RotJ.

4. ANH

These 3 films are difficult to rank in any particular order, but I know one thing for sure, none of them are as good as Eps 3 thru 6. I'd say they are about equal imo.

Easily and by far the weakest and worst of the saga. Absolutely hated it.
TFA

 

It changes every time I watch the saga but:

1) Return of the Jedi - the Climax and Closure of the story of Anakin Skywalker was the most powerful moment in all of SW.
2) Revenge of the Sith - I loved how Lucas portrayed the Villains winning as ugly and terrible, Palpatine and Vader getting disfigured, Vader killing younglings, not something to root for.
3) Attack of the Clones - The first SW film to paint the universe as diverse, colorful, and lively from all the great locals we got to see in the film. Plus the mystery feel of the movie was new and refreshing for SW.
4) The Empire Strikes back - Most technically consistent film, with the best acting and directing in the entire Original Saga. But I think it's a little overrated.
5) The Phantom Menace - I liked how this movie set up the universe for the next two movies, with the ominous Sith returning, political dissent, and a weakening Jedi Order with the Chosen One thrown in their Lap.
6) A New Hope - Really loved stepping foot and exploring the GFFA for the first time along with Luke, but is a little bland in comparison with the other movies.
7) Rogue One - Best action scenes in the entire saga and makes the ANH so much more enjoyable, but the movie had weak characters and plot.
8) The Force Awakens - Great acting and dialogue, but really contrived plot. Still enjoyable and hard to judge it without seeing the rest of the movies in the Trilogy.

I don't know why, but I always love seeing lists from people who don't have one of the more common ranking orders ;-)

 

I guess I'm different, then. e.e

 

1) Empire Strikes Back - so many great moments with Darth Vader, the trio main characters (Luke, Leia, Han), emotional ending, etc.

2) Rogue One - I'm addicted to this movie. Battle of Scarif was so exciting and the characters (and acting) were spot on. The ending was so emotional and the score fits perfectly.

3) Return of The Jedi - Final battle with Darth Vader, more shocking news, Battle of Endor, and I even liked the Ewoks. Great Star Wars film.

4) Return of The Sith - One of the darker films in the saga. Explains Anakin's fall to the dark side. I also watched TCW animated series, which helped the story of the prequels tremendously.

5) A New Hope - The first movie into the Star Wars saga. Battle of Yavin is a great space fanfare. Score is also amazing.

6) The Phantom Menace - Great Score, awesome lightsaber duel. Not a big fan of Jar Jar though. :/

7) Attack of the Clones - Not the best movie, but Battle of Genosis was awesome. The clones and the jedi going into battle was amazing. Acting needs some work though.

I don't consider TFA canon for me. I loved the prequels, but that movie was just a repeat of A New Hope. It takes away all of the sacrifices made in Rogue One and A New Hope because it has a 3rd DEATH STAR! Really. Unless Episode 8 is shockingly good, it will be at the bottom.

ESB- Always my favourite. Liked the Battle of Hoth and Vader going on x500 kill streak of his Imperial Men.Shows Luke's struggle and Vader towards the end. Just can't be beaten (YET).

ROTS- Great duels, such a great final battle, near perfect. Also Ian McDarmaid (Emperor Palpy) was great as well as Hayden and Ewan McGregor. Why do so many ppls hate it, I don't understand!

RO- Great spinoff story, captivating and want more of those Vader rampage scenes at the end. Maybe like another spinoff type film between V and VI to explain how to get the plan for the Death Star II. Vader castle etc.

ANH- Just original!!! Oh yeah and the trench run.

ROTJ- A few plot flaws. Ewoks bowing to C-3PO (in my head like what the hell). Nice redemption of Anakin Skywalker at the end.

TFA- Repetetive plot. Destroy Big thing (Death Star/Starkiller base). Wanna see more of Snoke

AOTC- Don't like Anakin's character (or Obi Wan's hairstyle!!) but the Clone Wars was a good idea. Good build up to ROTS but in general boring.

TPM- No one likes you Jar Jar. Qui Gonn and Darth Maul were good, would have liked to see more. Liked the podrace aswell.



Wanna see VIII so badly. Cant wait
