I’m really, really tempted to put The Last Jedi first. Nearly everything about that movie (except Rose and Finn’s kiss; it feels completely unearned) works perfectly for me. I appreciate others feel differently, but I love pretty much every second of it. The Empire Strikes Back wins out in the end, but it’s very close.

Star Wars Episodes I-VI - The complete saga, and essentially inseparable in my mind

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story - The outing that, in my opinion, "gels" the most with Lucas' work

Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi - I don't agree with all of the choices that the film made, but I appreciate that it took risks and gave me a chance to not love everything about it

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens - A crowd pleaser and the film that ushered Star Wars back into the forefront for this generation, but ultimately incredibly safe

Solo: A Star Wars Story - Only seen once and my move up a slot on a second viewing, very fun despite my reservations going in

 

I would love to see a one-off Anthology film animated, one of these days. I think my rationale for not including TCW with the films is because, to me, it is more just a theatrically released pilot to the series.

Having seen Solo: A Star Wars Story three times by now, I have to admit that it's becoming one of my favourite Star Wars movies. An absolute joy to watch. At the moment, here is how I'd rank the currently released films:

2. Return of the Jedi/Revenge of the Sith
3. Solo: A Star Wars Story
4. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
5. The Phantom Menace
6. A New Hope
7. Attack of the Clones
8. The Last Jedi
9. The Force Awakens

I like them all, but obviously, I prefer some better than others.

Saw Solo again today, I'm more unsure what I think about it after the second viewing. Liked the parts I like more, disliked the parts I didn't more too. May change again after a 3rd time later on.
