anakinfansince1983, for all of our similarities in hoops teams, southern-ness, and political views, the fact that yours and my #1 and #9 films are exactly reversed is shocking! :p

The diversity of the SW fanbase is above all, unpredictable.

    Detailed statistics after 50 rankings:

RULES: There are 9 movies in total, so a movie will get 9 points for a 1st place ranking and then down to 1 point for a 9th place ranking. The ranking of each individual JCF user is listed in the "Ranking Data" tab. Each user's cell has a hyperlink which takes you directly to his or her ranking on the Jedi Council Forums.

Since there are 9 movies, I've decided to introduce a metric which shows how often a movie is ranked in the top, middle and bottom 3 places. I think that it more intuitively displays how a movie tends to be ranked in comparison to the chart with the entire distribution of votes from 1st to 9th.

Example for The Empire Strikes Back: it is ranked in the top 3 places 70.9% of the time, 21.8% in the middle 3 (4th, 5th, 6th), 7.3% in the bottom 3 (7th, 8th, 9th).

Alienware, thank you for the data crunching and visuals. Really cool stuff.

Saw TLJ for the third time this morning. It slides ahead of TFA, just behind 3 and 5. The film continues to improve on each viewing for me.

Which film goes where within each trilogy can vary with my moods, but I'm pretty consistent in choosing which trilogy goes where.

I've already posted here and don't want to bias the statistical data with a double vote, however, I'm intrigued by trying to place a numerical value on my SW film rankings as many of you have. This is something I haven't really done before.

    1. TESB 10/10
    2. R1 10/10
    3. AOTC 9/10
    4. ROTJ 10/10
    5. ROTS 10/10
    6. TLJ 8/10
    7. ANH 10/10
    8. TFA 7/10
    9. TPM 8/10

I ranked the films numerically based on my enjoyment of watching them and score wise based on my assessment/opinion of them regarding overal film quality.

Edit: To be fair, TLJ will most likely rise, as I've only seen it once. I loved it. :)

This thread is awesome. In addition to the beautiful presentation of the rankings, I really enjoy seeing the variety of rankings. Although I would not rate TFA as my favorite movie, it is awesome that some do. It really reinforces one of my favorite things about the Star Wars saga overall: there is something for everyone.

Just seen The Last Jedi for a second time and I now feel confident enough to rank it. While I enjoyed it more the second time, it still fell short of my expectations. It just felt very uneven with some parts being great and some falling completely flat.

    1. TESB 10 - Still reins supreme. As close to perfect as a Star Wars movie has ever been and stands as my favorite movie of all time.
    2. ANH 9 - The classic that started it all. Much like a young Luke begins his journey, this movie is the perfect first step into the Star Wars universe.
    3. TFA 8 - While lacking in creativity, this movie feels well executed with a solid cast, improved writing, and great cinematography.
    4. ROTS 8 - Despite some of the typical prequel flaws, this movie manages to deliver an engaging story that ties up the original Lucas saga in a satisfying way.
    5. ROTJ 7.5 - The thrown room showdown alone elevates this movie. The opening at Jabba's palace was fun, however the middle act drags a bit.
    6. TLJ 7.5 - Kylo Ren continues to be the most interesting character while some of the others felt underwhelming. A messy movie that still delivers some epic moments.
    7. RO 7.5 - Didn't feel as attached to the main cast as I would have liked. Vader really stole the show here.
    8. AOTC 7 - The romance sucks but there's still plenty of things to like. I enjoyed Obi Wan's investigation, some solid action sequences, and Across the Stars is one of the best themes in the saga.
    9. TPM 6.5 - Visually impressive, great musical score, and wonderful sound design. The overly convoluted plot with a messy climax puts this movie at the bottom of my list.

    The great.
    1. ESB, the possibly the best made film in the saga. Some of the performances that were a bit iffy in the first film are better.
    2. ANH, the one that started it all, does a great job of setting up the universe without getting bogged down with long exposition scenes.

    The Good.
    3. RotJ, not as good performances from Harrison and Carrie plus an overly long Jabba scene and a slow middle drag it down.
Luke is great and Mark continues to impress. The Vader/emperor scenes are all good and the space battle is epic.
    4. TFA, it relies a bit much on stuff from the OT and SKB is not good and the end space battle is not that good.
But it is saved by characters that I am engaged in and a new type of villain in Kylo.
    5. RotS, has a lot of bagge from the other two PT films but Hayden is less annoying and works better with Ewan at the start.
    6. R1, weak first half, did not much care about the main character. Has a totally awesome third act though.
    7. TLJ, lots of good stuff with Luke and Rey and Kylo is still interesting.
The basic plot has a lot of issues and it drops or changes a lot from TFA.

    The Meh:
    8. TPM, Uninteresting or bland characters, contrived story and few good or even passable performances.
    Lackluster villain in Maul.
    9. AotC, Better villain in Dooku but he is under used. Ewan is given more to do and is quite good. Anakin does not work as I found him grating and annoying.
And the love story does not work either so every time the film cut back to that, it ground to a halt.

    Bye.

Like the Harry Potter books, the first six films in the Saga are all interchangeable for me, but as of the moment, my ranking looks like this:
    1. Attack of the Clones
    2. The Phantom Menace
    3. Revenge of the Sith
    4. The Empire Strikes Back
    5. Return of the Jedi
    6. A New Hope
Any others I'm forgetting??? I believe that is it.
