Don't forget the Emperor's advisors,as seen in ROTJ, though some of them may have varying ranks within the hierarchy, depending on the political/military climate.

 

What rank was Chief Bast? Is "Chief" a rank?

That could mean Chief Chirpa was a secret Imp agent...

Anyhow, I wanted to look it up in the ISB, but it's not much what I can up with:

I guess a Grand Admiral is higher ranked than an admiral, but lower than a PSHC. That gives me a brilliant idea for a rap song. Quick, call 50 Cent... only costs ya 50 ct.!!

Well, just cause he's called 'chief' (Bast) doesn't mean he's enlisted. The Chief of Naval Operations, the Chief of Education and Training and the Chief of Chaplians (I was in the Chaplain's Corps in the US Navy) are all Admirals, but thier job title is 'Chief.' Bast's job may be along those lines, maybe as Chief of Stormtrooper Training?

Yeah, I can. Bast was sometimes also referred to as "Doc", by a grey furred little animal with long ears and a fluffy white tail

 

I've been wondering about this myself recently.

I tried looking around at starwars.com to no avail.

You'd think someone would have presented an "official" hierarchy by now.

 

Grand MOffs and MOffs are Regional Governors. Emperor's Hands I wouldn't place as a rank. Since they are supposedly not widely known and are spies and assassins. They are more like secret agents. Take for instance if you go with EU, Maarek Stele he is a Starfighter General but also an Emperor's Hand.

As for Chief Bast. Only thing I see about him is being a Imperial Naval Chief but of what I have no idea. You must have seen it here Tech Commentaries. Other than that Chief must be some sort of rank or special designation.

It's kind of interesting in the credits they call Motti, General Motti. While on the website and most references he is an Admiral.

 

Motti was "Admiral Motti" in the end credits to the original ANH.
