Over in Community, I've been noticing various Rate-a-threads, and I thought that I'd like to see how this turns out. Every day I'll suggest a new SW Novel, and you'll rate it on a scale of 0-10, 0 being the lowest.

For the first book I'll do Shadows of the Empire.

    3. No luke, no han, bleh. I struggled through this book from cover to cover. Maybe I'm just biased against leia though.

That's a hard one for me, Mastadge. The book in itself is quite good, but not excellent. But on the other hand, there's Xizor in it... So...

8.5 (the .5 is for Xizor - the novel in itself only deserves 8)

I'd rate it about a 8.5 too. I'll save the tens for Mike Stackpole, Timothy Zahn and Aaron Alliston

If this book had been written by a real author, it probably would have turned out better.

I thought it was pretty good - but it's been a while since I've read it.

I liked his writing style and how he wrote Leia as the fiesty, strong-willed and passionate princess we knew from the movies.

    7. Not bad, but not excellent. And the part where they capture the Death Star plans was just lame.

I'd call it a nine. Empire at it's height, plenty of Executor scenes (something we rarely get from the EU), lots of the Rogues..and plenty of Luke, Vader, and the absolute best Xizor scenes ever.

7, because of the potrayal of leia, Xizor's part, and because Guri was cool. However, it skipped periods of time in a very haphazard way, which was kind of annoying.

    9!

But it is my favorite Star Wars book anyway. But I like it because it has Vader as a main character, has Luke struggling what happened at Bespin at the back of his mind...all great stuff!

Plus I liked the way Leia was written...she was in character all the way. Just overall, I love this book!

I would say a 7 or 8. It was pretty good, but not the best SW book ever written.
