OK, we're at T-minus 10 days and counting to Comic Con 2002. There's a lot to discuss and finalize.

I know that Void has a lot to talk about, and I've got a thing or two, too.

-We are confirmed for our table, B-7. We are next to the 501st/RL table, and next to the SDSWS. Excellent.

-I'll call SDCC to ensure that they have all the proper paperwork, and confirm that we'll be getting the exhibitor passes.

-We'll need to verify that we have everything that we need for the table: displays, photo albums, flyers, etc.

-I'm talking to a guy about doing a mural instead of the banner. I need to research it a bit more, but this might be a better option, if he can get it done before we leave. If not, we'll have to do a smaller banner, unless I can solicit more $$$.

-I still need graphics help, and help doing the flyer. We need to have a half sized flyer that is just general FF info. Also, we'll need to "outsource" this to as many people as can get copies made, so that we can get as big of a stack as we can.

Please continue to discuss and let's get ready to have a great time!!!

(This thread will self destruct on 8/6/02 (lose it's stickiness) )

ED: Locking, so hopefully it will sink. --OW

    Hey Team,

I'll post the route I'm planning on later when I get back home (at parents). But while I have my endpoint planned, I'm not sure about everybody elses. How do we want to handle getting into San D ? I plan on taking my group to my sister's so they can all refresh themselves real quick and then those who are coming to the dinner can go.

    So...

    1) Who is staying where ?

    2) Do we want to split up once we hit San D or all stick together until after the dinner ?

    Next....

    Car setup/Boarding arraingements

    Gold Lead
    Void (Staying at Sistine's)
    Mick (Staying at Sistine's)
    Obey Wann (Staying at Sistine's)
Lady Jedi Carenix (Staying at Sistine's)

    Gold 2
    ?

    Gold 3
    ?

    Gold 4
Jeff (The bunny) (Staying at Sistine's)
room for 3 more if need be.

ed: deleting the first post so it will hopefully become "un-sticky"

We might be able to get a mural done, instead of a banner. If so, here are two possible backgrounds that might work.

    [image=http://www.rebelscum.com/toys/ultabackxwingr.jpg]

    and

    [image=http://www.rebelscum.com/toys/ultadshall.jpg]

    With the words:

    FanForce.net
Your portal to the Star Wars Fan Universe

or something along those lines written on it. LMK what you think!!!

We're up to $100 so far!!! So at minimum we can do an 8x3' banner. Woohooooo!!!!

I'm hoping that we can do the mural, instead, but the banner will be great, if that's all we can do. :D [face_love]

    Hi
    I am VoidDancer's new housemate.
I will definitely traversing to the Con.

But more important, I just read this:
-I still need graphics help, and help doing the flyer. We need to have a half sized flyer that is just general FF info. Also, we'll need to "outsource" this to as many people as can get copies made, so that we can get as big of a stack as we can.

I have a 4 Yr BA in Fine Arts and have worked in just about every media except neon bending, welding and 3D design.
I gladly offer my artistic services to you.

Great nwes!!! The mural is a go!!! Mario can do it for us!!! I'll be going over details with him tonight, but we're doing a Rebel Hangar scened mural.

The only bad news is that San Diego might not be able to make the PVC frame, so we might have to make it ourselves.

Now we need to shift gears and get the flyers made up. And I need to talk to the SDCC folks and make sure that we have everything we need, and that we can get the exhibitor badges before we leave.

Team, this is a 1st revision for the travel plans. Please post suggestions, addendums, and your own plans to this ASAP !!!

Mobius ??? Will you be able to provide your radios to us on the drive out ? We would greatly appreciate it.

Driving directions for the San D trip...

Assemble at my house to depart at 1200 hours, 2 friday 2002. PM me if you need directions It is important that we depart AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE to 1200 hours because of the special Star Wars dinner that night.

    1st Leg,
From my house to the 101 North freeway, up to the 202 West. 202 West to the 10 West.
Go 33 miles to the exit 112 AZ 85 South/I-8 West.
Go 35 miles to the I-8 West and take that for 102 miles to Yuma.
We will exit on Fortuna Rd (Exit 12) and turn right for a refuel and food (if needed).

    2nd Leg
Turn left back on to Fortuna and get in the right lane to return to I-8 West
Go 175 miles to the I-15 North freeway.
After 9.3 miles, take the Mira Mesa Blvd exit and turn left onto Mira Mesa Blvd.
Go 2 miles to Camino Ruiz (beware of a MONSTER dip in the road there) and turn right onto Camino Ruiz.
1/4 of a mile ahead is New Salem where my team will be going.

Travel time is expected to be appx 5.5-6 hours to our destination point, leaving us just a little time to refresh and assemble for the Rebel Legion Dinner, for those who are going.

If you need personal information regarding this location, such as physical address or phone number to give to emergency contracts, then PM me.

Does anybody else have their destinations mapped out and we split up at some point, or are we all going to rally at Sistine's ? (I'm sure she'd appreciate warning)

Mrs OW is currently calling SDCC to find out the status of the Exhibitor badges. I have not received them yet.

So far, it looks like Mobius, Darth Greedo, Void Dancer and Idiot's Array have laid claim to the badges. Please confirm this. I hope that I didn't over-book the badges. :( If I did, please forgive me. Or shoot me. ;)

I'm planning on volunteering my time at the SDCC in order to get in myself, and I htink that's how most people are planning on getting in. I have a feeling that most of my time will be spent volunteering during the weekend, either for entry, or at our table. Either way, it'll be a good time. :D

I'm wondering if we need to have a final pre-departure meeting, just to make sure we're good to go. LMK what you think.

Also, I'll be bringing 2 FRS radios, maybe more.

Crap. I screwed up and didn't keep great track of everyone using/asking for the Exhibitor badges.

Obviously, we're going to have to have some people volunteer a bit, in order to get everyone in the door.

You can shoot me now. :_| Forgive me.

Could we all trade off with the badges and have people use them one day and volunteer the next? I'm sure that they're going to need plenty of help. I hope.

God, I feel like crap. :(

    Here's the costs:

    FULL MEMBERSHIP AT-THE-DOOR PRICES
    Adults: $60
    Juniors (7-16)* & Seniors (60+): $30

    SINGLE DAY MEMBERSHIP AT-THE-DOOR PRICES
    Adults (Thur/Fri/Sat. only): $25.00
    Juniors (7-16)* & Seniors (60+) (Thur/Fri/Sat. only): $12.00

    Adults (Sunday only): $15.00
    Juniors (7-16)* & Seniors (60+) (Sunday only): $7.00

I would say that since we will only be attending Saturday and Sunday for those that are going to pay for admission, just go with the single day passes for each day. It comes out cheaper over all unless they are offering some sort of perks with the full membership. Dunno, but I guess we'll find out at the door.

Oh, and I suppose I can afford that price, I don't intend to do much shopping while there (I say that now, watch me leave with a Parks saber...) Even though I didn't get that hoped for raise...
