I'd have to say that the best Star Wars book ever would have to be The courtship of Princess Leia.

Best Book(s): Anything by Michael Stackpole (except Dark Tide I and II), particularily I, Jedi. I liked How it was in first person, and I also like Corran.

Crappiest Book(s): Anything by KJA. The inaccuracies really bug me. He keeps saying the Falcon has turbolasers.

I dunno, I Jedi was pretty good, but all of Zahn's work rocks, as well as Rogue Planet. I can't chose.

Star By Star, no offense but it was very well written and had most everything you would want in a novel.

The next few would have to include the Thrawn trilogy and duology, I Jedi, Vector Prime.

There have been some very good books, but don't forget the stinky ones. The Crystal Star and Black Fleet Crisis. But overall they have definitely done 1000 times better than the Star Trek books.

    Courtship of Princess Leia
-nothing captured the essence of Star Wars Like it.

A close second is the Heir to Empire Trilogy.
-also a good picture, but didn't go as deep into the character interrelationships as Courtship.

In all honesty, it is really hard to determine a best book...if it's good, then anyone could have it as a favorite.

Now BAD books...that's easier to Define...

Crystal Star? Planet of Twilight? PEWWWWWW!

I don't think I could pinpoint the best book. But the best series (I think) are the X-Wing books, the Thrawn Trilogy and the NJO.

I really enjoyed 'I Jedi' too, but my dead set favorite is the Brian Daley Han Solo trilogy. He captured Solo's character to perfection, as well as a distinctly Star Wars flavour I haven't found since. And they were funny!

Shadows of the Empire. It explains a lot about a lot of the characters, and the way they act in RTJ. Plus, It's a great book, and who could ever get over C-3PO flying the Falcon.
