vlm, i think medicare at this point is funded through 2022, but not beyond. and entitlements or whatever you want to call them have to be addressed - they make up i think it's 60% of all gubmint expenditures (soc. security, medicare, medicaid). and yes, we should cut all across the board where we can, military and all, in addition. i'm actually not really optimistic that any significant cuts are going to be made (unless we end up pulling the trigger at the end of the year), and that money printing and spending is just going to keep ramping up. i think the extra revenue from the tax increases on the top two brackets will be spent long before it's even all been collected. that's the path we're on right now and i have no reason to think it will change. then there's all this interest that's going to keep building and building and building over time. ****ing horrifying.

Dress him up differently and he looks like a homeless guy watching the pump for a couple of cents. This picture is so bad that whoever took it should had asked money from Romney so that he could destroy it.

The most entertaining bit of the post-election wind down has been watching the Romney campaign team turn into an Ouroboros. They can only seem to agree that, whoever's at fault, it's not the individual speaking at the moment.

I really wonder what Romney will do now. Both Kerry and McCain went back to the Senate, and Gore became an environmentalist icon.

I'm also thinking I should create a "U.S. Politics thread" now that the election is over.

 

Retire with the millions he made from his dealings with Bain Capital and never be heard from again.

 

What kills me is when people talk about being pro-life in one breath, and then in the next talk about how they're against government aid to the disadvantaged. You say you're pro-life, well, what about the sick kid whose mother can't afford to take him to the doctor? Or the parents who can't afford to feed their kids, despite working over time (at crappy, low-paying jobs). No, they're just a bunch of moochers. One of my friends is on facebook is like this, and it's pissing me off. I think for a LOT of these people, it seems to be that "life begins at conception, and ends at birth." Once they're born, screw you kid, you're on your own.

You have no idea how much that pisses me off. Don't call yourself pro-life if you only care about the unborn.
