Would Leia's Boushh disguise qualify for the 501st or Rebel Legion?

I've actually seen Boushh (sp?) under the Bounty Hunters section on the 501st website. Check it out!

it is another example of a costume going to both groups, with the Helmet on, and everything, the Actual Bounty Hunter would be 501st,

The only real canon example of the costume, being worn by Princess Leia, is a Rebel Costume.

    So both groups accept it.

Okay, so can someone just post a list of *all* the characters that can apply for both groups? BTW, are there any Yoda's or Ewoks in the RL, or is it just too hard to find people that small?

There are ewoks in the Rebel Legion, but I don't know about Yoda.

 How rude! Ewoks aren't meant for dinner, unless you're a Krayt (sp?) Dragon.[face_laugh]

A krayt and an ewok would never meet up. I say the ewoks are fair game for supper. The young ones are bite size.

Sister_Sola, thanks for pointing me here. :)

So here's a repost of my post. :)

I'm looking towards the next Celebration and trying to plan some costumes. As I'm new to all this, I'm making sure to leave myself lots of time!

My goal is to be a 501st member by then, but trying to decide what to do... Although I am planning a Mara Jade I know (at least, how I understand) that you don't have as many options available (official things like working events/escorting etc.) because she wasn't on screen, correct?

So I thought that would be a good second costume, but perhaps I'd look to having something else done instead (or first) for that time.

    So I *had* two questions...
My first was sort of answered by reading through this thread - At 5', storm trooper should probably be out. ;)

My second choice is an Imperial Officer. But although they are 'formal', are they 'as formal' as stormtroopers. Basically my question is - if I want to have all options to me (escorting at events, security, whatever) do I need to be a trooper (assuming I can find the kit small enough) or are all formal costumes offered the same opportunities?

Reading through the posts I see that some places would maybe just request troopers, but I'm mostly talking cons and things as there really aren't any events (that I've seen) where I live (Nova Scotia).

I figure that if I join the 501st I'd just like to be have the option of takeing advantage of everything I can.

I hope all that made sense!

    Thanks!

Hum - I'm newer to the 501st and what I've noticed in my area is that white armor is the most requested. TK, and usually TB (Biker Scouts). So - no - not all formal 501st costumes are offered the same opportunities. I keep telling myself I possibly should have made a Biker Scout costume instead of the TIE pilot if I wanted to be part of more events. But I'm busy enough as it is :)

Usually the height and weight requirements are not put into effect unless it is a very high profile event. But you have to ask yourself if you feel comfortable being a 5ft stormtrooper. As it is, I'm 5'6" and because I can't seem to hide that I'm a female (my mannerisms, my slender build) I get called the 'girl Darth Vader' the 'Fruity Darth Vader' and I even got punched by someone who may have thought I was just a scrawny guy saying 'you think your so tough'. (mind you I'm not Darth Vader - that's just what people think TIE pilots are - LOL!)

A lot of times Imperial Officers are called for, but just like the TIE Pilot, there are also a lot of events they are not requested for and can't participate in as a result. Given your stature, it does sound like an Imperial Officer might be your best bet. But there is no guarantee you will be approved to participate in everything. Generally if you are a convention goer, you should be able to have fun.

I know this costume seems to be rarely requested - but what about a Jawa? (Take advantage of your height!) I always thought it would be fun to be a Jawa :)

Kay-Dee That is exactly my thought. "A little short for a stormtrooper" indeed! I just wasn't sure how much the other screen characters like imp officers got to do at cons. I think that besides Halloween! that will be my target events.

I just see white armour and think "oh! Shiny!" lol and it's so recognizable... But I've pretty much talked myself out of it. (but sooo shiny!)

So now I just need to figure out the next most 'useful' in terms of the 501st costume that would fit my smallness.

    Thanks for your opinions!

Going back to the top of this page, Boushh is a nice option. After all, Carrie is only 1" taller than you. ;)

Also, Asajj Ventress is an approved 501st Expanded Universe character, as is Mara Jade and Visas Marr. If you to go http://flagshipeclipse.com/forum you can see the EU stuff that's approved and also the standards for them. One of the Darth Revans in the 501st is only around 5' tall and her Revan is amongst the best out there.

As for the references...i **think** there has to be three separate ones. Example(s):

Visas Marr - KOTOR2, Comic (Unseen, Unheard), Star Wars: The Ultimate Visual Guide
Asajj Ventress - Clone Wars Cartoon, 3d Animated Series (when it comes out), Comics, SW Databank...and others.

There's mods from there on this board and i'll let them chime in about the reference thing...but ultimately, NO, it's not limited to movies.

    Good luck.

Ah, perfect! I saw the Boushh discussion and didn't think of it. I think because at first I was so focused on the question of which costume is allowed to participate in the most events.

I think EU characters are great (sometimes I feel like I see the most creative well crafted costumes being inspired by EU). However, in our area - they usually are not requested for a lot of the more formal events. They seem to primarily request costumes that are seen in the movies. And, I *think* there might be some subjectivity as to which EU inspired costumes actually get approved and which don't - execution of the character could play a part.

I think Boushh or Jawa would be great, considering your height and the fact that you could join both the Rebel Legion and the 501st with either costume. They really do give you many options.
