Full Series Rebels to Re-Air to feature Vader Scene

Very first look at Vader for anyone interested, definitely a bit of the original Ralph Mcquarrie look put into his helmet

So did the extended version already air with the Vader scene?

 

Oh, they are going for the "angry look". And the helmet seems out of proportion. Sadly, not a fan.

I know. I've just never been a fan of McQuarrie Vader. It's like going backwards instead of forwards. But still, this is just a minor gripe. I can definitely live with it as long as the rest of the package is awesome.

 

Not surprised at the McQuarrie influence in the helmet at all especially looking at how heavily inspired this show is by him.

 

Why? This makes no sense in the context of the end of Episode III. Did the Emperor have some special "angry face" Vader helmet for special occasions?

This really is overthinking the whole idea. Just stick to the basics, we don't need the all of the insider nods; we get it, you're using McQuarrie as a reference. Its as if Dave Filoni is sitting there jabbing you in the ribs and saying, "See what we did there?"

Also the design comes across as awfully Detourish:

 

I have to agree that it's quite jarring seeing an existing, iconic design tweaked like this. The stormtroopers are fine because it's quite believable that their helmets could have been redesigned (and really it's just minor stylization anyway), but there's only one Darth Vader.

 

I don't know... to me that's like asking why Yoda looked so retardedly different in Clone Wars with his massive head 2-3 times the size he had compared to the films with almost anime looking eyes, It's just the style of the series. It's not like they straight up copied the concept look, it's a blend between the Vader we know and the Vader concept. I said a few days ago, that this is probably what they were gonna do with his look seeing as how the style has been so far.

His helmet has actually slightly changed throughout the movies, but never this jarring. This desing is also flawed in another major way that I will explain later.

 

I like the design.

Ralph Mcquarrie concepts for Vader had him being more flexible.

 

Did they show actual footage of the scene? If so, has anyone uploaded it yet?

It's a model using the original concept. You can tell it's not the Rebels one, because the ridges in Vader's breath grille don't go all the way to the top.

 

The scene seems to be a nice nod to ESB.

5 seconds of the Vader scene is probably, like, 15% of the screentime that scene will take up. (I'm not picturing it lasting longer than 30 seconds).

 

I like the look Looks just like normal Darth Vader, not much of Ralph's design at all.

 

Why is it on Disney XD & now ABC? Will that happen each week?
