Lit Recanonized EU: A List

Ruusan was in TCW. Or a moon of it was, anyway.

 

Ruusan was seen with its three moons, Falleen was mentioned. In the same s1 story arc.

 

Thalassian Slavers are mentioned in Servants of the Empire: Edge of the Galaxy

 

As has been mentioned before by myself and others I think this is a sort of administrative reboot more as a way of giving writers freedom to write what they want without causing contractions. Given the love for EU I would not be surprised if much of it was put back into canon. The question I am now asking is how much of it will simply be name dropped, and how much will actually have a greater influence.

 

The majority of EU wasn't safe, even back in the day. One writer could potentially name-drop something and have its backstory ready, only for another author to "retcon" away certain things or add some more. Even major events were erased or retconned and significant characters got multiple interpretations. Naga Sadow was once a human banished by the Sith. He also died and his soul was destroyed once or twice. Until the TOR DLC which brings him back, of course. DLC content is handy, that way. Better than any retcon.

 

I'm 60% through Tarkin, and he has already made reference to events that occurred in nearly every novel in the Clone Wars Multimedia Project. Plus his other Prequel Era novels. Most Impressive.

 

Antar 4 has been moved to the Mid Rim because of the system's appearance in Destroy Malevolence. I don't know if anyone else noticed, but I was very pleased Luceno picked this up and made the retcon.

 

Half the pages are just EU references at this point.

I'm pleased to see the canon Imperial Navy incorporates both movie, TCW, WEG and EGTW designs.

 

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

 

There is a new blog post on Star Wars.com entitled http://www.starwars.com/news/the-jedi-council-meet-the-masters]The[/url] Jedi Council: Meet the Masters. I'm fairly sure the article is meant to be a canon source (particularly since it mentions Sheev) and nearly all the info comes right from the films, TCW, and Rebels. There are a few nuggets of Legends info in there though, including Yaddle and Oppo Rancisis' ages at the time of TPM, and that Yaddle trained Rancisis. Yarael Poof is also mentioned to have trained Ithorian Jedi Roron Corobb. I think we can consider those particular details back in canon.

 

Ugh. The name "Coleman Kcaj" is still canon........................

 

I just hope that they make Barabels cannon soon!

Current Insider short story has the Corellian Resistance show up and mentions Ossus.

Sadly that is about it. One of the characters is a member of the Corellian Resistance and on the run from the Empire, whilst the guy who finds her is a Historian of sort and among other things has Jedi relics from Ossus.

 

What is the current insider short story called?

I really hope that they make a book that collects all the Insider short stories at some point. I would be all over that, especially considering I don't normally pick up Insider.

 

I thought the Novalitions of the movies did not count as Canon.

 

The phrase used was "canon where they align with what's seen on screen" - but this is something different people interpret differently. For some, it canonizes everything in the book that doesn't actually contradict what's seen on screen. For others - only the bits that exactly match what's on screen, are canon.

 

Ah I see then I know where I land there as far as Wookipidia goes most of the EU mentioned in the novels remain EU.
