Actually, the JC was geekier back when it started. And that was a good thing. Now there are a bunch of immature teeny-boppers.

It was smaller, and there were more things to talk about back then. And I agree about the power vacuum thing.

When the jc started getting bigger and bigger, people started making sub-groups and social threads. To maintain that small board quality. Eventually those small groups broke into smaller groups once they got too large.

    It's a repeat process.

But it's not like this place is the 5th ring of hell or anything.

I think Mr. Dead Horse sums up this discussion pretty well. :p

Not the 5th ring of hell, not even in the top 10...but together, with a little hard work, we can make a run for first ring of hell. 2002 will be our year! Go team, go!

Which reminds me, anyone see Conan O'Brien's Triumph the Dog comedy sketch at the SW line? He called the lineup fans nerds

I was on that. (The girl who can have any guy on the line) Most of us didnt mind being called nerds. I am proud to be one.

i dunno, this place may be full of geeks and parents in search of a place that can mind their 6 year olds while they gamble down at the casino, but i love it, hell, where else could the Handsome Slave, the Poor Man's Horse, and of course, The Fisherman's Horse

Joining the site and registering a name means you're a nerd. Posting 10,000 times makes you a total geek. Posting nearly 18,000 times confirms it for life.

For all the newbies and the midbies, here is the address for an old thread, a very old thread discussing the very same things. From what I remember, their adroit negotiation techniques within that thread lead to Padme Bra's and Epic's initial modships:

Ancient Drama - It's Always the Same Crap!

Thank you for the link, AL. If I remember correct that is the longest thread in Communications, which is self-explanatory of the amount of drama that was kicked up.

Administration problems have existed, and will continue to exist. They do not go away so easy, unfortunately.

Unless, maybe, you were to replace all your admins with people who weren't idiots. Or people who had had some practice speaking to people in the real world before speaking to people on a message board.

Conversely, tarring the entire Administration with the 'idiot' brush is incredibly foolish. There are problems with the administration - big ones - but statements like yours will only impede any progress that could be made.

I agree with jediguy on this issue. :p

Seriously, the mods are - believe it or not - there to HELP YOU. They're not there to ruin your fun. If you're going to accuse the mods of something, please state exactly what it is and which mods are guilty of it. General statements don't cut it when you're trying to fix something.

I agree. Also if it's done in a serious manner then you will be taken seriously.

If you don't mind me asking, what's with all the socks, Harry_Hill/Evil_Kenevil/beaucoup_sith? It seems as though you're trying to make us think that you're three different people with the same grievance against the administration. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong in that assumption. However, if I'm right, and if that's how you try to validate your points, I'd suggest that you leave. We listen to suggestions, but deception isn't the way to go about communicating said suggestions.

And his posting under 3 socks changes the content of his posts in what way?

Oh never mind. He won't be listened to any more than I am because he isn't properly "respectful" to the admins.

You guys are "unified front" whenever it suits you. Since the solidarity of colored users is so important to this board that also means that users look at you as a different group and not as individuals. And it also comes from seeing the majority in a group act in one way. I see mods admins and mods as total idiots without a shred of common sense. While I am plesantly suprised when I see one who isn't, my first assumption, based on experience, holds true. It's no different than the way people look at all cops as being pigs or all lawyers as being shysters.

See what happenes when you impose an "us versus them" atmosphere on the joint? You wnated it, you got it. Enjoy.

I don't know about the others but Tanktopgirl and ObiJohnKenobi are different people. They used to post in ffuk before they left for ffuk.org.

Unless those are "Parody" names of them...?

Yeh, I can guess The Rio Ferdinand is not quite a real one..!

But with TTG and OJK, I didn't know if they were "the real deal" or whether they were one of those "parody" style socks like "DarthSopient" (who occured today in the AOTC forum).

The way Nathen was talking, it looked like he thought they were all strange socks, which they might not have been.

    But probably were.

Yes, those are all the names that come back as a result of an IP check. They are all the same user.
