Right, but what you say here qualifies as posters taking it personally; that is transference. This was not anything to take personally, it was a discussion about what people think a character in a movie should look like. No one was commenting on how Hamill should live his life, only their hopes/expectations for the movie.
We don't have a "tale of the tape" for these guys, so it is just speculation, but I think Hamill is bigger than those guys, and certainly shows a lot more bloat in the face; he does not carry weight as well as those guys.
Plus, it is a little different in that Luke the character was a fit young Jedi in action scenes for 3 movies; people identify with that character. I think they could still make it believable, I just don't think it is ideal; I think it would be much more becoming of his character to be in shape. I think the action scenes are MORE believable with a fit Jedi. This is SW, make it all it can be.
There is away around this, creative editing and body doubles like these used with Dooku/Lee
Head shots and dialogue all Mark. Full body battle scenes could be tweaked.
Either way these guys have to make an appearance for the sack of continuity, and we all know this is still Lucas basic plot, and they were in it.
Hey, those people look like they could be in movies.
With today's makeup effects, there's hope in making someone look better, but there's no way to make someone look skinny when they're really fat. At least not without CGI.
The good thing is, they have plenty of time to lose weight.
Why does he need to be skinny???
Oh that's a sweet picture! (Stealing for a wall paper or FB avatar) - when was it taken?
This might sound stupid, but this picture, more than anything I've heard or read so far, has made me happy about the ST. They just look so right together.
Looks about the same.
He needs to lose the gut. Seriously.
I am sure he will get in shape.
They look great here!
There is no denying their charisma. Great pic.
Is Ford losing the hair up there? No big deal considering I have lost much the same myself.
But I aint Harrison Ford on the verge of reprising his role as Han Solo. I suppose the makeup department can 'add' more hair to make him look more the part.
They could just have Luke, Leia, and Han played by puppets ala Team America.
There's always finger puppets:
They look like a happy couple! a happy, incestuous couple.
Very recent. 1997
It's from 2005 - see video below:
I don't think so, he just has a buzz. He has some receding hairline, but I don't don't see balding in the back. I always thought baldness is ridiculous in sci-fi movies; I mean, come on, all these futuristic things, but they haven't cured baldness yet?
Maybe they stopped caring about such a thing? Maybe baldness is considered a sign of masculinity? The possibilities are endless
At 26, you just might be though.
Yoda was bald though it would be hilarious if he was sporting a fez in ROTS.
My bad. 8 years ago. It looked like how they looked at special edition premiere.
Hamill looks better than the average 61 year old. He's always had a face like that even after the accident. Anyway, who cares what he looks like. He needs to be in these movies. He needs it. Us fans need it.
And on top of that, Abrams didn't have a problem putting Nemoy (ew, a trek actor), in Star Trek despite him looking like he's 200 years old.
Yeah I wonder if the Trek fans were like, "oh Nemoy better hit the buffet table he looks like skeletor!" "I hope he gets a gym membership, he doesnt look like he could fight off evil Kirk in his current condition"
