Recognizing each other at C3 (IMAGE HEAVY)

I was stationed at Al Jaber Air Base right outside of Kuwait City when I was in the USAF.

BTW...

I flew in an F-16D Fighting Falcon during a bombing training mission in 1997 while stationed in Qatar.

I win.

Hmmm... I haven't been to Al Jaber yet, it's one of the few places I guess I haven't been to in Kuwait yet. I might just have to go there, just to say I have. LOL. I'm headed to Qatar in a couple of weeks to go on R&R. They let us drink there (3 max per day, but it's better than nothing. )

And yes, flying an F-16 does sound like more fun than what we're doing.

Unfortunately, I got a haircut today and look so freaking ugly right now. But yeah, that's me.

I was at Ali Al Salem last year. That was when we could still make morale trips to Camp Doha & Kuwait city.

It's amazing what changes in 9 years. I was there in 1996. I made many trips to Camp Doha, Kuwait City and Fahaheel so I could get away from Al Jaber. The cheesebread in Fahaheel was to die for. When we went to Kuwait City, we'd eat at one of the Western restaurants on Gulf Drive. Ali Al Salim was a craphole back when I was in the USAF.

Obey Wann, you'll like it in Doha, Qatar. That was one of my favorite places to be deployed to.

BTW...since Operation Southern Watch has been officially ended, what mission name are you guys serving under now?

Land-lubber USAF planes, lol. I was in the USN and spent 4 years onboard a nuclear aircraft carrier and last 3 years in an F-14 training squadron... I love watching the Navy aircraft take off and land on deck, especially during night ops
Carrier-based USN and USMC pilots have to land thier birds on a moving, floating "air base" after a grueling patrol or mission. Fly Navy!

Now my hair is slightly longer and messier...plan to cut it after the premiere of ROTS.

Even seeing all of the pics, I don't know if I'll recognize everybody at C3...but if you have a nametag...it would really be helpful, cause I'll have one too thanks to MrSkinnee's idea.

 

MegaJedi, because you look so radically different in each of the pictures you posted, no one's gonna know how to recognize you at c3. therefore, i request that you post a "2 hours ago" picture as well, and perhaps even a "2 minutes ago" picture. with all of them next to eachother, we'll at least have a fighting chance at picking you out of the crowds.

Thank God I didn't post the one in which I have very long hair.

But that's true, during the last few months I've had a few "radical" changes in my appearance, like getting a haircut or loosing around 15 lbs.

Oh, and I refuse to take that "2 minutes ago" pic, since yesterday I got a haircut and I look terrible. As a matter of fact, now I'm hoping no one will recognize me.

 

I was thinking of getting a haircut, but it worries me.....

 

KOB, don't!! I've learned it isn't wise to get a haircut two or three days before a big event! So many things can go wrong...

 

See my hair cut looks good and I just got it yesterday. Poor Rafa

P.S. I don't have enough money, nor am I skilled enough to create an elaborate costume, so I had to settle for trying to be clever. "Trying" being the operative word.

Salty, I'm serving under Operation Iraqi Freedom. I'm about 5 months into my deployment with another 3-4 more to go. Camp Doha is closing down around us as we speak and our group of Navy Customs ispectors will likely be among the last occupants here.

Then we go up the road to Ali Al Salem. At least they just opened a swimming pool.


So before Sebs gets mad at us, I can rediret you to my deployment thread and we can talk story over there.

Well, I've finally finished my CIII costume to the point where I can show it off a bit! Still needs a few finishing touches (belt, boots, etc...) - but overall, I'm verrry happy. I should be the amount of work I put in it...

If you see me lugging this around the convention center come up and say hi! I won't be hard to spot - it stands over 8 feet tall!

Ohhh yeah - the back is the actual 12-back first release (A-Style). It's pretty sweet and looks great!
