    STAR WARS
    Recollection and Regret

    Part One

He could never return. He was trapped in cold steel and twisted wire, imprisoned within his anger. He loved it. He cherished it. Gone is his flesh and soul and forever is his body now, only meant to die in battle. He remembered how he died and risen again. He recollected the specters of times gone past.

    ?Jedi.?

He remembered that?s what he said as his final word before he received destiny. It was a simple taunt. It was a deadly gamble. Why did he have to take such a gambit, to mock a Jedi?s mercy before that fateful duel, amongst the burning wreckage of an Alliance starship? He remembered he was blinded by madness, by anger? by hatred for the Jedi Knights.

They killed his family. They slaughtered his people. They destroyed his home world.

He wanted to make the Jedi pay. That?s why he said it.

    ?Commander Ki I presume.?

That was the reply from the Jedi? a Chiss Jedi. It had made matters worse: the Chiss were already sworn enemies of the Kotor.

Kotor? The thought made him reminisce? He was once Commander Ki, a great leader of the Kotor people, a green-skinned humanoid species bent on the ideals of war. He remembered he was praised for his brilliance and cunning in battle, his non-stop victories against the evil that was the Galactic Alliance and the Jedi.

He remembered he fought for the Legion to defend his people. He swore an oath to the Emperor. He swore an oath to hate the Jedi.

?You?ve gone too far this time. You will pay for all the death you?ve caused.?

He remembered that he laughed at the Jedi.

?Fool! Your army?s decimated and you hope to kill me, the great Commander Ki? I will have your head before I perish!?

He recollected his false claim. He regretted he had said that, blind in red fury.

A lightsaber ignited, glowing in a glorious hue of gold. ?It?s not too late to redeem yourself and your people.?

He would have accepted, had it not been for the fact that the Jedi was lying: his people were already dead by this time. He had seen it: the pain and suffering as billions on the home world Kotoriol died? all at once? to make way for the Alliance ground invasion.

?Remove your pointless grudge against the Alliance. The Legion lies to you.?

It is the Jedi who lies.

    ?No!?

His denial echoed in his mind. Had he been betrayed as Commander Ki? It didn?t matter now: he wasn?t Commander Ki anymore. The line between truth and deceit had been blurred at that point, and he recollected that he leapt at the Chiss Jedi in his rage, vibro blade hand in hand.

?You will meet your doom, Jedi!?

Steel was sliced like nerf butter, against the radiance of the Jedi?s weapon. Flesh cooked soon after, and severed limbs smoked. He remembered lying there, powerless before the Jedi, at his mercy. It was then he wished he had not mocked the

    Recollection and Regret Part Two

?Kotoriol, 1002 Years After the Battle of Yavin?

The world of Kortoriol was dark, its skies steeped in crimson vengeance and hatred. Like thunder, Alliance gunships had rumbled through the atmosphere, raining down laser fire and missiles from above, sending cities into ruin and the landscape into dust. The humanoid people of Kotoriol, the Kotors, though wicked and war-like, were defenseless against such an onslaught, powerless against the wrath of the Jedi Generals, even with the help of the Legion. Surrender was the only option left for survivors.

Commander Ki, a warrior bulky and towering, wearing impregnable, scarlet Dark Iron armor, was not ready to surrender.

?Sir,? a thin, sickly Kotor officer draped in a black hood and cloak and equipped with advanced sensor beacons and binoculars approached his leader. ?The gunships are gathering to exit the atmosphere: they are leaving us.?

    ?Good.?

Commander Ki, the greatest Kotor warrior, watched the chaos from afar atop a hill in a blanket of ash. His green skin was pale with anxiety and his eyes yellow and bloodshot with fury: there was hatred in his veins. He saw the inglorious pain of defeat: the sight made the Commander cringe. A city, or what had used to be a city, lay before him, completely annihilated by the dozen gunships above. Towers had been shattered, stripped of their honor. Streets were littered with bodies of Kotor civilians and the wreckage of downed starfighters, dotted with the occasional missile crater. No one survived: there wasn?t even a flicker of thought about survival in Ki?s hateful mind.

All of Kotoriol, dead as black night: the Alliance had killed everyone but Ki?s small strike team of Kotor soldiers and heavy armored shocktroopers of the Legion. There they were, only three dozen strong, to confront an entire Alliance assembly area in the center of the ruined city, about two hundred soldiers strong. The main objective was not to eliminate the enemy, but to cut off its head: to assassinate the Jedi General in control.

There was one unsure of the plan, the weakest of Ki?s soldiers, Lieutenant No. No was much like his Commander physically, but lack the strategic prowess of his superior. No approached Ki?s turned back. ?We should strike when they are weak.? He had contemplated this, Ki assumed, in his weak mind. It was foolish for No or any lesser in fact, to speak at the eve of battle according to Ki?s traditional preparation method.

?The enemy is weak, Lieutenant No. They may be two hundred strong, but they are three hundred thousand less since the last moon?s awakening.? Commander Ki turned to his lower official, a disappointed frown fixated on his human-like countenance. Then Ki smiled, revealing sharp canine teeth. ?It is time we carry out justice. The Jedi General down there, you see?? He pointed towards the ruins, plumes of smoke rising into the reddened skies. ?He is the heart of an army of millions. If we kill him??

?It would make little difference!? Lieutenant No interrupted his superior, a serious crime punishable by death. Surprisingly, Ki stood unflinching and heard his comrade out, though his reasoning would certainly be swept aside. No continued. ?Each Jedi is like an army of a thousand men strong, and you hope to kill him? Impossible. We have no chance as the day passes: we must wait for reinforcements.?

?Reinforcements will not come to a planet with only three dozen warriors to save, let alone confront a well entrenched enemy.? Commander Ki informed his lesser. ?We will strike, but we will not wait. Waiting is death.? Commander Ki once more turned his attention towards the city, loading his blaster rifle with a fresh energy cartridge. The dozen shocktroopers embedded with the team followed suite with their leader, preparing for battle: four of the black armored troopers readied shoulder-mounted rocket launchers, providing a valuable asset to the team.

Lieutenant No watched his fellow kind, the remainder of the strike team, ready. ?The fools walk to

I liked the insinuations you made there, making it seem that the Jedi and the Alliance were the bad guys to the Kotor's perspective. Nice work DD :D

The Dark Legion made sure to manipulate everyone that they could. It's almost like the Separtists, except on a more grand scale. [face_devil]
