Perfect timing with Burn Notice as it's about to begin it's final season this summer (yes, the idiots at USA decided to cancel it)

How every TV show starring Summer Glau? When you combine them all, you'll get a full seven year run.

In fact, to hell with David Caruso, that joke deserves music. Hit it, Paul!

I second Californication - fun, touching, rude and very well written.

NYPD Blue. You could actually see Caruso in something good. And see Jimmy Smits infinitely better.

I'm doing a mini-BSG marathon on the train ride home from Vienna, Kobol's Last Gleaming Parts 1&2. The opening of Part 1, with the opera house music, may be my favorite bit of the entire series.

Or if you really want to mess with your head, marathon Californication and the X-Files at the same time. Hank Moody investigates aliens, and in his spare time, goes on benders with Runkle.

Honestly, for that description, I think Doctor Who would probably be a great bet. It's a lot of fun and also has great characters and moments of pathos to balance out the fun. If you don't mind dodgy production values, starting in series 1 of the 2005 reboot is the best bet. There are important story things established in series 1, but the show is much better once it gets near the end of series 1 and into series 2.

If you absolutely can't stand bad British production values, give series 5 a try. It's kind of a reboot within the reboot. But personally, I think it's much better to go from series 1 anyway. The backstory is important.

Yes it is :p I mean, the actual sets and locations, extras, etc. aren't that bad. But I will never understand why they spent all that time and money on, say, recreating Victorian England... then shot it with video cameras. Not even digital cameras. Not high def video cameras. Standard definition video. What a waste.

Because TVs in 1977 were 320x200 pixels, and it's just a kid's show.

Er, I specifically said 2005. I know the UK is behind on HDTV and HD broadcasts, but still, shooting on a 70s format in 2005 is ridiculous. Mostly because they talk in Confidential about how much work went into the costumes, props, locales, etc.... then they blow it all by shooting on cameras that are literally about as good as a home video camera from the 90s.

Also, the "it's just a kid's show" attitude is hilarious. Yes, I'm sure they had kids in mind when they dedicated the first 4 years of NuWho to the main character grappling with how he committed double genocide. All my favorite kid's shows feature genocide. I especially like that episode of Power Rangers where they kill off all Asians because the Yellow Ranger was going to destroy the universe otherwise.

When I see "series 1" in reference to Who, I think Troughton, not these reboot wannabes.
