Well, the other reason I asked is that the one's at Roman's Empire are insanely expensive.

Ah yes, but not that expenisive, especially since he recently got a deal to use an actual knob from the movie to base off of.

    In props, $14 is nothing.

Well, this prop is just for fanfilm use. I don't know if $14 is worth it. Especially since it just has to look good on camera.

Well heck, if it's just for a fan film, I'd order something like this from McMaster and paint it red!

These are less than 1/4 of the above mentioned price.

That's a good idea, Loreen. And my saber prop is an RLSA saber, but those red knobs are only plastic. I have one on my saber. I want to replace it with a metal one. Looks like I have to either paint one red, or spend $14. See, this is my lightsaber...

EDIT:HA HA! I did a Google search for red thumb screw, check it out....

Hmm, that doesn't look the same. And the thread size is probably smaller too. Those aren't likely to be the same screws that's in your saber, from what I see.

The one in your saber looks more like the ones in your pic from Roman's than the computer thumb screws.

Sorry to burst your bubble like that.

You're probably right. I just went back to look and they are smaller. I'll just have to spend the $14. Wow, who would have thought those things would be so hard to find?

Hold on, it's $14 for a red thumb screw!?!

I'll paint one red for alot less then that. ;)

For accurate reproductions of the ones used in TPM, 14 is not expensive. KNurled, Adonized and tapped...not a cheap procedure on all counts.

Justin, I think you mean "threaded". This is done using a die.

You "tap" the female threads using, well, a tap.

You?d think that this is the kind of thing that you could find at Home Depot. I?ve had no luck there or at Lowes either.
