Sorry about that!!! I had Darth Real Life called an emergency. But onto the story.

As you have already heard, it is about the Chiss training academy. Jagged has been sent there by his father who is/was at the Hand of Thrawn base. While at the academy, Jagged is known as decent pilot, but reckless.

To shorten this up, after Mara and Luke destroyed the hanger at the HoT, pirates apparently attacked it. They pillaged the base and found out about the academy and were headed there. Stent, (Thrawn's Chiss apprentice) appears at the academy (having most likely been sent by Fel) to warn the commanders and rally the troops.

Before he gets too far, a freighter crashes through the roof and destroys almost all of the claw craft and a majority of the commanding officers. We also see Stent get killed (obliterated) by turbo laser fire. (really damn cool) - Continuing on, the rest of the story is about Jagged stepping up to the plate a wooping alot of arse and showing why he is a colonel at age 17 or so.

The story did have some mistakes, but this is due to the editing. Otherwise, Elain did a great job and I can't wait to see her Dark Journey.

 

How old is he? Does it fit with his age in Dark Tide?

 

Perfectly, I believe. I don't have the story infront of me.. (Im at work) but I think he is twelve during the story. That would make him 17 or 18 at dark tide.

 

Actually he was 14.

Jag has a good excuse for early achievement. He grew up around CHiss who grew up a lot faster than he did. He was presured by an alien society.

 

Very true DL. He had to prove to them that he was as good, if not better. This story helps to explain that.

Is there any mention in the story of a "little lady Chiss" in Jag's life? Or do they basically shun him for being human?

 

No little lady for Jag. Like it or hate it, that role is most likely being reserved for Jaina.

 

No... there was no little lady chiss. He also wasn't in anyway a uber pilot. Its showed in the begining of the story that Jag actually had just crashed his fighter. They don't shun him per'se... he just has to earn their respect.

 

In fact, he crashed his ship a lot.

And yes, Jaina and Jag WILL be together.

It would be interesting if there was a Chiss Chick in Jag's life, though. I wonder if Jaina is the jealous type???

 

She will be if she's a drak sider.

Hey, I just had a thought. Since this story is set at the same time as VotF, does it go into Jag's opinion on Luke and Mara? After all it was those two who wrecked the Hand of Thrawn hanger. Does he realise that or is it not mentioned?

 

He knows it was Jedi, but not who the Jedi were.

Anyway, if this is set a short while after VOTF, and Jag is 14, and was around 18 in DT, doesn't that create a discrepency, as there were more than 4 years in between the two?

 

I thought he was 19/20 in Ruin. It could be that whole 'dynamic' age thingy again, though.

 

Aye, there's a 6 year difference between the books. It's a slight problem.

 

I'm pretty sure he was only a couple of years older than Jaina in DT:R. She was 16 and a half at that point.
