Regarding Sidious' face through Eppy I, II and early III

Right so the 'sugar lump forehead' look is Palpatine's true face, but i noticed that before the reveal when he barking orders to Gunray or whoever, he still has Palpatine's human face under that hood.

So his physical transformation was something that was permanent and unless struck by use of the force, could not mutate back to the ugly scary yellow eyed look at will?

I think he could change at will -- he just chose not to.

I mean, he has a dark hood on! No one will recognize him as that other guy with the cleft-chin who happens to be Chancellor...

Hmmmm... why would he not change his face back when he's in the Senate?

 

He was injured. Check the book, the official encyclopedia even the souvenir magazine. He wasn't hidding. It was his true face. It melted when Windu reflected the lightening with his saber. Palpatine intesified it and it had stronger effects on his face.

i've been thinkin' about this and i came to the conclusion that because of the showdown with windu in rots he stayed like that for then on, but he looked all pale wrinkled in ep1 and 2 .?
