    Title: Reiis Invadator
    Author(s): Me, Anakin Skywalker
Timeframe: The story occurs just after the end of the OT, but with memories of events in the PT.
Characters: mainly Reiis Invadator (my Role Playing character), and others
    Genre: It's a backstory....I guess General?
Summary: Describes a bit of the backstory of my Role Playing character, Reiis Invadator, but you don't have to know anything about her for the story.
Keywords: Oh, lots of stuff. Death, murder, destruction, mayhem. The works.
Notes:This is a very short fanfic about my Role Playing character -- a bit of backstory. I wasn't exactly looking for reviews, but feel free to leave them if you want. I mainly just wanted to share the story.
    Disclaimer:
I own everyone in this story.....except the general idea of Sith and Jedi and Star Wars and such. Oh, and Typhojem and the New Sith Order. Yeah, I don't own them either.

They said it would be a simple mission, and we believed them.

And we had no reason to not. The Jedi Council didn't exactly have a history of sending Padawans alone into suicidal missions, so we believed the task was straightforward. It certainly seemed to be: find a certain aging professor who had recently been targeted for speaking out against the Clone Wars, escort him safely to Coruscant, and report back to the Jedi Temple for debriefing. Simple enough.

    Not.

Reiis's musings were interrupted for a moment as the control panel of her ship began emitting a sharp beeping noise, alerting her that she'd being arriving at her destination shortly. Two switches and a level pulled the ship out of hyperspace, letting the automatic system begin the orbit and landing sequence. It'd be another 15 minutes or so before landing. Reiis leaned back in her seat, absently staring at the planet before her.

The Council had assigned Reiis Invadator and Kal'ya Dec'taal to the mission – two Padawans, nearly Knights, good friends. Arriving on site and finding the professor hadn't been the hard part, it was getting him to go with them that proved difficult.

"This is a free Republic, is it not?!" he had asked, slamming down a large volume on the desk, making his outrage clear to the two of us. "I have a right to speak my mind, and I will NOT surrender and hide like a scared animal." We tried to talk him into going with them, emphasizing to him that he was of no use to the Republic dead. Perhaps if we had given up or just forced him to go with us, none of this would have happened.

Reiis reached her hand up absently toward her face. Where there had once been smooth, pale skin was a smooth, dark mask – featureless, cold, no longer human. She had been human once, and she supposed that she still was, in a way. With all but one limb a prosthetic, feeling human wasn't exactly easy. And the replacement lungs, too, restricted to the monotonous rhythm of a machine, emitting harsh, synthetic breaths considered soft only because they weren't loud. That made it hard. Very hard. Her injuries weren't a direct result of that ill-fated mission, but Reiis knew she would be whole at this very moment had they succeeded. A lot would be different.

Kal'ya was a better negotiator than I was, so she did most of the talking. Perhaps if I had done more of it, she would have sensed them coming sooner. Perhaps it wouldn't have mattered. There were five of them and two of us, not counting the professor. They had come for him, as we had, but with very different intentions, and in a matter of seconds, we found ourselves directly in their way. I tried to deflect the bolts, making up for Kal'ya's delayed reaction, but they shot my lightsaber to pieces at the hilt, burning my hand in the process. Never again would I take so much time making it look pretty and spend so little time making it as durable as I possibly could. I would learn that lesson in time to save my life, but not Kal'ya's. They shot her lightsaber before she even had time to ignite it. Someone had known we were here, and they were ready for Jedi. Before we even knew it, we were unarmed and surrounded. I was ready to let the professor die, as we were obviously outdone. But Kal'ya -- sweet, earnest Kal'ya -- wasn't the type to give up, as she had always been a better Jedi than me.

Reiis felt her ship shudder as it came out of orbit and began approaching the base. She usually used this time to stretch after a long flight, but prosthetic legs eliminated that need entirely. She plugged her stomach into the intravenous system that she had installed. She hated the process, felt it was a waste of time. It proved necessary, though, despite her feelings about it. Feelings were near useless, anyway.

Kal'ya had tried to negotiate, even beg, to let us and the professor go. One of them, the second in command maybe, apparently grew impatient. He shot her, and I thought I was next. Perhaps I would have been, but they still needed to kill the professor. I could have cared less what happened to him. They aimed for me next, but what they didn't realize is that I wasn't like most other Jedi. That had always been a problem for me, which is why I was often assigned tasks with the calmer, kinder Kal'ya. But Kal'ya was gone, and there wasn't a damn thing to stop the rage now. I don't remember how the events occurred, exactly, but what I remember next was that they were all dead and the room was trashed and bloodied. I've never been able to remember what I did, and I don't know if I want to.

She shut her eyes tighter as the memories flooded her. Reiis didn't want to remember anymore; she was tired to remembering, tired of hurting over it. Her ship landed, but she stayed in the cockpit a little while longer, succumbing to the painful images in her mind.

The Jedi tried to "help" me, as they referred to it, but apparently I wasn’t responsive enough. Then they tried to kill me. I'm not sure what they expected of me, but nothing I did was ever enough.

Reiis opened her eyes. The past was the past, was it not? Her memories weren't even part of the timeline to which she now belonged. Time travel to escape the destructive god Typhojem had misplaced the whole lot of them, and they were expected to move on. So, technically, none of it had ever happened. But it had! she thought. And now she was left to suffer the consequences. Reiis Invadator stepped out of the cockpit and was immediately approached by a young slave, obviously terrified at the visage before him – black robes paired with a black faceless mask, darksaber clipped firmly to her belt. "Darth Invadator, am I permitted to refuel your ship."

Reiis Invadator -- Darth Invadator now, Jedi no more, Acolyte of the New Sith Empire – nodded, and left.

Apart from how close her prosthetics are Darth Vader, three limbs and a breathing apparatus, this was a very good read.

Good combination of the padawan personalities, you certainly make a good go of introducing your protagonist, and the situation.

When someone feels sorry for themselves, logic doesn't come into it, so it would be cold comfort to Reiss for me to point out to her that there was not much she could do to her lightsabre hilt to make it resist a blaster bolt; purpose-built stormtrooper armour can't do it.

I would have appreciated some sort of explanation as to why the jedi switched from trying to help her, to trying to take her out; but otherwise, yep, quite a reasonable fic.

Well, thank you. I appreciate the feedback.

    Some thoughts, though.

Vader actually had four partial limbs taken off. Two forearms, two legs below the knee. But it's interesting you compare her to Vader, because that's what the GM and I were thinking of when we planned the character, lol, so she was designed to be very very similar. :)

Reiis actually made her new darksaber from durasteel (like Vader's armor) which is impervious to blaster bolts. Her original lightsaber was a more common metal alloy that was too thinn to hold up to the blast. Stormtrooper armor is plasteel, I believe, which is pretty darned useless. :)

Yes, I could definitely add a better explanation of why the Jedi gave up on her.

    Thanks for the feedback!

If durasteel is really blaster resistant, then I have learned something too.

Blaster bolts have bounced off Vader's head before, lol.

I really enjoyed reading this; I got a good feel for Reiss's personality and what led her to the dark side. From one author to another, well done.=D=
