Reinstate Darth Sapient Petition Thread

Why is it that when we joined, we were governed by the TOS and if we got promoted it was still the TOS that goverened us as mods? That has served well for years. We were working hard to lead the site into a Golden Era here and were having no problems. None. Why the change?

 

Sapient, in as much detail as you can, what exactly do you propose we all do about this current catastrophe ?

We all know that Philip Wise isn't going to listen to any of us. He won't listen to reason. He won't listen to silly insults. He doesn't care if we stay or go. He doesn't care about money ( he said so himself ). He's quite willing to close the site down.

Basically, all he really cares about, is his beard, his cheesy grin, his pet cats, and his fishing rod

So what are we going to do ?!

 

I understand that they want this site to move to a better site called CHQ or something... ?

Which is a site dedicated to collectors about collecting. I don't want TF.N to be Rebelscum II except TF.N no longer has boards and the only place to post would be funneled into Rebelscum's forums.

My view is that the asking of information gains the owner nothing. Even with that information he would still be liable for any lawsuits unless he has a mod sign an employment contract with a clause that says the mod will safeguard any copyrighted/protected material and is responsible in the event that occurs. Without that, he is responsible with names or not. So while as the owner he has the right to ask for the info, I do not agree it gains him anything so its useless.

Serious question, has an offer been made to buy him out of his share of the site?

 

The fact that the other thread was locked actually scares me. Any shred of hope I had left for this forum remaining alive in it's current location might have just slipped away.

Here is the site for collector's by collector's, and all about collector's for as long as you both shall live. Amen. I do.

 

Here's an idea for 3 things we can do now.

1. Kill the threads that deal with this in Comms. In the past the precedent has been set, when the ownership rules the issue is over. It's time to move on. Leaving these open only makes it worse. Tribute threads are also not allowed.

2. Support the new and current Mods. This isn't an easy time for them and acting like a jack ass by spamming, trolling, threating to hack Phillip's IP etc. will not help the situation.
If we all really care about this web site like we say we do, let's show it and by acting mature and not cause them more trouble. If anything try to help them.

3. The ex-administration could do a lot to help.
The decision is final and it has been handed down, by continuing to drudge this up and cry sour grapes only makes it worse for everyone. It does not help the current staff be able to do there jobs and it interfers with those posting who are uninterested.
If the ex-administration really cares about the site they will take this battle outside of this forum, TFN, and wage it from E-mail or Pm's. Again this has all been encouraged before in similar situations.

No, DarthBane420, I say we leave this topic OPEN, but to ONE thread in Comm, ONLY ONE thread though, any others gets locked. But let it NOT be this thread, because this matters more than just Darth Sapient himself... there are other Mods, plus the understanding of what the site is, AND the privacy matter needs to be further discussed!! As a fan of Star Wars and a user of this site, I like to continue this, it's interesting!

So this issue doesn't bother other people not wanting to read this issue.

I once thought as you do, JM22. But he's more site owner now than man, dictatorial and power hungry. Wise was seduced by the collecting side. He ceased to care about the films and the fans and began to care only about his life size Boba Fett statue and new Clone Trooper helmet. When that happened, the compassionate man that used to care what people thought about him ceased to exist. So what I told you was true... from a certain point of view

Here is the "About" section for CHQ which makes it abundantly clear the focus is on collecting. TF.N isn't even on the affiliates. Rebelscum is. Kill the boards, leave TF.N Main, and focus on collecting.

 

It's obvious there's still a great demand for this issue to be discussed. Closing Philip's thread was a mistake, and it should be re-opened.

Only reason I can see for keeping it closed is if all future discussion about it would be directed in tomorrow's MS update. Spammers should be dealt with individually, not at the cost of a thread.

 

Just one question Sape.... from what you know, from what is happening behind the scenes, what are the chances of Wise backing down and giving you back your status as All Powerful Lord Of The 3SA ?

 

Man I don't know. But I can't sit by and have it all crumble.

As I said earlier in this thread, things will be covered in the MS update that should be up in the next 24 hours. For now, just try to let us work as best we can. The issue is not over by any means, and Josh and the remaining mods are working on finding the best possible solution.

Sure, I agree that DS did a good job.

However, the boards aren't going to fall down if he or all the other mods are gone. They will be replaced - as they have been many times over since I started lurking here.
