    Thought I'd start this discussion early as I have been talking with Will from the Cancer Council re: representing them (of sorts) re: Hollywood Plaza appearance & raising money fro the Cancer Council....Here's part of Will's email to me today that I'd like to share:

    "In appreciation for your tremendous support? please send my regards to all of your amazing Fan Force group as your dedication and valuable contribution is so well admired by us (Cancer Council SA) for truly making a difference to reducing the impacts of cancer in South Australia. Regards, Will "

    He mentioned to me on the phone today he gets enquiries all the time whether he knows if the Star Wars team is going to be doing the next relay... seems we're quite the draw card :)

    Anyway, seeing as the Hollywood appearance is under the banner of raising money for the Cancer Council, we need to donate all the profits from that day to them which is fine. It could go to our R4L 09 total if we had our team registered...[face_thinking]

    that's cool !! This is a good oportunity to start raising funds waaay early , like you said all we need is 10 members to register & we're away !! We've tried to start early in previous years, this will be the earliest we've started & it'd be great to get registered soon.

    We're not "actually" supposed to be raising money for the Cancer Council and using their public liability insurance as such, because we're not currently "registered" as doing anything current for them, but Will said it's fine because of the great relationship we have with the Cancer Council...but he encouraged us to get our registration in and make it official ;) *lol*

    Each person gives a $10 deposit and then they have to raise $100 each....I just put my gold coins away over about 3 months and it was easy as. Others have raffles or just ask people to sponsor them, you get a few family members to sponsor you $10 each and its not that hard. Some people are lucky enough to their workplaces to sponsor them! Darth Meanders has a cake day and he brings in a nice cake for morning tea and hands around the donation tin...does well every year. It's not as hard as it sounds, most people are happy to help the cancer council and make you work for it!

    Same here, its a great atmosphere and now the toilets are lit and clean its good. Close to all facilities and the cold night makes it more fun!!
