like the glowing eyes in mission impossible tv series? hhehe.
Like Splinter Cell... obvious green lights, but somehow, the hostiles couldn't see the lights in the dark...
Fact is, that it looks cool. In both RC and Splinter Cell
Damn right it does.
Don't know if this has been mentioned by Karen or anyone else but:
Orion have announced they're publishing both RC:HC & RC:TZ in the UK, info is on their website: www.orbitbooks.co.uk
THANK FOR MAKING THIS THREAD ACTIVE AGAIN!!
I finally got back to this thread, and chuckled madly at the whole "glowing visors" idea. Perhaps they don't really glow, but we're seeing lots of reflection from light because it's made out of a slightly different material than what the rest of the troopers have? I don't know. Either way, it's kind of odd. I don't remember exactly - did Karen make any mention of the "glowing visor" thing in the RC:HC? I didn't notice it if she did...
Well, regarding Splinter Cell, Sam Fisher's [link=http://www.samfisherblog.com/2005/03/mail-call-4.html]'official' answer[/link] is that the lights don't glow in "real life"... it's a gameplay mechanic so you can see your character on the screen. Perhaps it's similar for RCs, or it's just there for looks, or something? I seem to remember finding something in the game's subtitles about how having the low light visor mode activated made you an easier target, but I don't think that was mentioned in the final game so I don't know whether it applies or not.
I like the idea that RCs can turn them on and off at will.
She actually did. When the gdans are trying to eat Niner, she says they saw a blue glow when Niner looked at them.
Ah, Niner... my favorite of the bunch, really. I don't think we'll get his POV in TZ, though, especially if she stays to four viewpoint characters. Who do you think they'll be? I'd guess one from each of the two squads (maybe Atin for Omega since we haven't seen through his eyes yet?), Bardan, and Ordo. It'd be interesting to have Kal or Vau's POV, but I think there's more of a hero-worship mystique about them if we don't, which is fine by me.
My money's on Fi. There's been so many hints dropped about him.
I really really hope one of them is Ordo or one of the other Nulls.
Thrawn edit: WRONG THREAD! Sorry.
I would personally rather see things from Atin's POV than Fi's. Besides, Omega Squad: Targets was from Fi's POV, IIRC.
I highly doubt that we'll be getting a POV from Ordo, Vau, or Skirata. I'm also under the impression that the Omegas aren't the focus, so none for them either most likely.
I feel as though Darman has had enough time in the spotlight. I also hope Sev will be alive in Triple Zero. For those of you who don't know, he dies in Republic Commando.
No; he goes MIA. Big difference. And Sev will still be there, certainly.
For POVs, I'm guessing Fi, Boss, Fixer, and Kal.
I'm gonna guess Fi, Sev, Etain, and Ordo.
Dar has had his time in the spotlight, but I found myself missing him a LOT in Targets. So I hope he's still central in TZ, even though he probably won't be POV. I also hope there's a lot of Fixer, 'cause he's my favouritist of them all.
Sev is defintely in TZ and will be fine, as the book takes place long before the Kashyyyk mission.
I really hope it's one fo the Nulls.
Kal would be awesome too.
I think it might actually better for the father-figure feel if we don't get in Kal's head, but I would love to see him get lots of page time.
I think Sev would be a fun viewpoint, and one pretty different from any of the Omegas. But I think if Sev's a POV character, Ordo won't be, and vice versa, because they both seem like the stone-cold, almost-humorless type, and I think there'd be more diversity than that in viewpoint characters.
But now that I think about it, I remember Karen mentioning either on a Legacy thread or on her blog that she picks the viewpoints based on what the story seems to demand, rather than any other criteria, so we might get one of the same POV characters as before. But I kinda doubt it, especially since there are so many more players thrown into the mix.
My original guess still stands though I don't know who'd "represent" the Deltas (what might it be like to have Boss in that role? I lean toward Fixer as a Niner-type), but as for wishful thinking, I'd love to get in Etain's head again (though I'm sure Bardan would be equally interesting) to see how far she's come in the nine months since Qilura.
Speaking of which, apparently that particular situation is resolved, if we've got Etain on Coruscant for this. I hope we hear from or about Jinart just for a little closure.
Just thought I'd post some images I found while web-surfing.
Apparently, Gaiagear, the 1/6th customizer been creating his own Null ARCs...
Not sure what Karen would think of this guy though.
I thought their armor would be a little more like standard ARC gear, though.
Their armor IS standart ARC kit...
This custom one looks sweet, though it looks more like an RC than an ARC... (it also says "Katarn armor" on the second pic...)
Yeah, the custom does look pretty cool.
*Has a fanboygasm*
Sounds like a good time to post some more.
The following images are from the website "G2 Orbital Research Complex", run by a chap called Gaiagear.
I wish I had one of these.
Rather cool, aren't they?
As for the POV debate, my money is on Jusik being one of them. We need a Jedi POV, and he's new, as opposed to Etain, whom we already know. Her journey, her place in the spotlight was HC. I wouldn't be surprised to see her POV, but I'm expecting Ms. Traviss to bring in a fresh psyche. My $.02.
