    hash tags on facebook in a status, when not from a joint account with twitter...... that's not serving a purpose, right? (I didn't want to make anyone feel bad on fb so I'm asking here :p )

    Isn't that what got Mariah Carey fired from American Idol? She kept saying "Hashtag: Pow" live on the air. And every time she said it, Idol lost about half a million viewers.

    I only use them on Twitter. I think I'd have to seriously restrain myself from stabbing somebody if they used hashtags in RL.

    Not sure, when the phone voice-automated systems want you to press the # button they always say "The Hash Key". At least they do here anyway, I guess calling it "Number Key" on a dial full of numbers would be confusing.
