Saga Requiem for a Friend (Obi-Wan, angst, post ROTS)- one shot

Requiem for a Friend: Obi-Wan's reflections on the loss of Anakin.

Author's Note:These two lines from the movie/novel inspired me to write this. I assume besides watching over Luke, Obi-Wan thought about Anakin a lot. I hope you like it!

"You were The Chosen One! It was said that you would destroy the Sith, not join them! It was you who would bring balance to the Force, not leave it in darkness!"
"I loved you, Anakin, but I could not save you."


I met you very early
How different you seemed to me!
As time passed, we became something else
Something I did not ever expect to find.
You were a brother,
friend, and mentor;
I learned much from you.

Then darkness came,
And you changed.
I had left, and
Returned to find
You a stranger
From the brother I loved.
I could not stop you
Or save you.

You are lost,
Forever fallen, and yet.........
Hope has been born
Away from you,
A feeling you don't know.
Soon this hope
Will find you,
And you shall choose.

I pray for light to return
And give you new life.
This I shall ask for every day
For who you once were.

I'm not afraid to admit the goose bumps this piece gave me. I enjoyed how you encapsulate the entire saga in this touching plea from Obi-wan. Good Job.
