Gather 'round, kids. I got something special for you. A while back T-bone had some RealPlayer files on his original StarWarz.com site. These files were scenes from ESB that someone(don't recall who) had gone to the trouble of restoring the original music cues to. John Williams' music that you hear on the ESB soundtrack, which was eventually dropped, can now be appreciated in its intended form.

To put it simply, you must experience these restored clips of ESB with Williams' music if you haven't already.

So download these files, sit back, relax and experience what was originally going to be these select scenes for The Empire Strikes Back.

As a reminder, you need RealPlayer to view these files. The sound quality may not be CD quality, but they're still worth it.

*note: since there is no 'save' ability in the menu that I know of, to save them go to 'find files' in the start menu and run a find on *.rm on your local drive. You should see file names that say "StarWarsCut_Scenes_Multimeda" and some numbers. Copy those files to a folder and they're yours.

They are are in the order as the scenes appear in the film.

    Enjoy!

    Alternate opening(683k)

    Solo enters Echo Base(1310k)

    see you in hell(362k)

    Hoth search/close shield doors(753k)

    Probot destruction(338k)

    Walkers on the north ridge(138k)

    Luke's training(1190k)

    Luke and Vader- round 2(1252k)

Let me know what you think of them. :)

My favorites are the probe droid and round 2 of Luke and Vader.

EDIT BY SIL: Hopefully those links will work now. :D

I've downloaded them all in the past. I managed to save them all at the time, but my hard drive crashed and I lost them. They're good.

Though I liked the music for Luke and Vader's fight (especially the use of Yoda and the Force theme), I think the scene DOES play better without the music...

The fight scene between Luke and Vader in the carbon freezing chamber is already good, but I think the music just makes it even more intense. Especially after Vader says, "Only your hatred can destroy me!" and he hacks away at Luke.

It's funny that I know all that music by heart even though it's not in the movie. :)

Too bad that so much great music was left out of the film. However, I must say that "Luke and Vader- round 2" is better without the scoring here.
