PT Rethink Your Life: A New Hope - PT Social Thread

Hi everyone!

And greetings to everyone else who I don't know too well. I participated a lot in RYL when it was just beginning and in its earlier incarnation -- PT fans discuss TFA. Darth Real Life has prevented me from posting too much lately, but I like to get back here when I can. It's the friendliest place on these SW forums!

My favorite comic book films:

For me, TDK is a masterpiece. It separates itself from all the others. If I had never seen the earlier 2 Batman films, then I probably wouldn't like TDKR so, so much, but I think the success of the earlier 2 films bleed into it.

I think all the Marvel films are okay, but they feel so similar to me. I think they're well-acted and well-directed, so I like them all, but none of them stands out. From the Marvel universe, I generally like the X-men films more than the MCU.

I thought BvS had some really great moments, but it didn't come together for me as a film.

I'm one of the few people who probably really liked The Mask of Zorro film. I don't know if he counts as a superhero or not, but he wears a mask and does heroic things, so I stuck him in there!


Oh, and Reeve vs. Cavill vs. Routh vs. George Reeves

Reeve hands down.

Reeve and Cavill are both great as Superman, but Reeve's Clark is great fun. I love his Clark Kent. Routh's Superman and Clark are the worst of the 3. He tries to copy Reeve but fails big time.

George Reeves' Superman is hilariously awful.

2. Keaton (though I was skeptical)
3. Batfleck (though I was even more skeptical)

Oh idk if you wanna not count my votes for this time since I know I won't be able to make it Friday. This week is pretty busy for me.

 

Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised with Batfleck. I was very skeptical. Actually, I would probably put him ahead of Keaton. Both were very good.

Unfortunately, Eisenberg didn't work as well for me as Luthor.

 

*cough*actuallyiamnotfamiliarwithdcsoidontknowthedarkuniversemovie*cough* Can't say anything about her comic version but still, I guess you're right. Watching that movie it seemed a bit odd to send some actually pretty normal people after her.

Funny, enough, the Mask of Zorro is one of my favorite movies- I remember it being somewhat popular when I was a youngling- it was a popular Halloween costume growing up, I think in part thanks to the movie. Hell, I even to this day have a wood sword I made with my grandma for the costume! Definitely one of my most prized possessions.

But yeah, I would rank him more as a pre-superhero hero due to the fact that he came from the era of pulp magazines- the kind of heroes that would inspire Star Wars and Indy- so he's more along the ranks of a Flash Gordon, Doc Savage, the Phantom, John Carter and even Tarzan in my opinion.

Funny story about Flash Gordon. My mom never bought us any comic books, so the only superheroes I knew were from the Super Friends TV show when I was young. When I was in preschool, a kid asked all the boys to choose to be a superhero. All the good superheroes seemed to be taken. I said, "I wanna be the Flash." He was taken too. So, I then said, "I'll be Flash Gordon." Then the leader of the group said, "Flash Gordon stinks! He doesn't even have any superpowers!" The other kids then laughed at me. I felt sad and went to play by myself.

I now see a therapist three times a week, and I think it all traces back to this!

(Just kidding about the last part. I'm pretty well-adjusted, at least pretty well.)

I welcome both of those films, if they are done well.

Rad superhero movie list, btw. Although I got confused when you started listing two or three films at one numerical position. I know, it is hard to rank them.
