Yeah, that's my preference. But there are alotta OG Blade Runner fans that still like the theatrical version they first fell in love with. And if you get deep into the BR fandom you oughta watch it to take part in that conversation and debate.

I've been thinking about how it would be interesting to go and watch the previous version(s) to see how they compare and to be able to talk about the subject fully informed. I think I heard something about a voice-over narration that everybody loves right? :D

Hopefully I can get on that soon! By the way, what are your thoughts on the "Director's Cut" version? Is it just kind of a lesser version reasonably close to the Final Cut, that's the impression I've gotten about it anyway, or do you think there is enough of a difference to grant it significance in the BR canon apart from it? Just wondering. I ask because that's the one I saw was playing on TV a short time ago but didn't tune into because I'd decided I'd do the Final Cut for the first time viewing. I'm sure given the opportunity I'd wind up watching it down the line sometime anyway, but I'm curious as far as it's place in terms of the aforementioned debates.

It's my fault. Hobbit negativity is a rotten old dead horse, and nobody likes the stink that results when you beat it. :p

yeah, off the top of my head, i think it would have to be ROTS as my most anticipated movie ever too. And I was 35 when it came out:p ...but i was as giddy as an 11-year-old!

BR 2049 came close to that level for me. I kept poking my husband in the ribs and grinning with delight at certain key moments:p

my current anticipated film is this:

It's already been released, but I don't think it ever even came to my area:( (or, if it did, I obviously wasn't aware:p). which really bites, because i really wanted to see the visuals on the big screen since they're so unique ("the world's first fully painted film"). oh well...

    ^and i second Frank!@};-

B3 I have not, I have heard they aren't very good and don't want to be put off from reading the books if I agree it's not good :p

Pensivia [:D] thanks :D I'm going for my injections this week, so I will mention it then :) thing is it comes and goes so don't want to waste the docs time. And going for tests doesn't take my fancy, yes I'm a procrastinator :p

and agree that trailer looks awesome!

In my Creative Writing class, some girl said to "only watch IV-VI and skip I-III." As expected, I shook my head in more disapproval than Obi-Wan does to Anakin.

The paperback edition of The Hobbit is only 287 pages, so you can just read it while you're in the waiting room at the clinic and then waiting for the doctor in his office and then waiting to schedule a follow up appointment. Bang. Everything resolved in one day! :)

There's only one significant moment I think I remember from the Director's cut that's different from Final cut but I don't think it changes the debate. The main difference between Director's and Final is the digital remaster and the color difference makes Final look quite a bit better. You can probably find some pictures or video showing them side by side.
