Okay, I hate to bring this up, mostly because this is what people say about the The Phantom Menace, but I saw Bee Movie in theaters about ten years ago... and I have to say--beyond a doubt--that was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Not the worst, but one of them.

Edit: But I don't know much about the whole meme culture that's developed around Bee Movie. I have friends who've never even seen it, they only know about it because of Tumblr, I guess.

Apparently. I actually learned about in real life, when I was hanging out in a friend's apartment a few years ago. They spend way too much freaking time on Tumblr, but Bee Movie memes only came up when they said Seinfeld was unfunny, and I stuck up for the show. But then they said people hate him online for the Bee Movie, and I was like, oh yeah, that did suck. I'd blocked that film out of my memory.

Edit: Know Your Meme describes it as an "ironic fanbase."

 

I don't really like the movie either But I was watching a unrelated video and one showed up as a recommened so I decided to watch it. Why Idk but I did. And many more.

 

Just to clear something up, was the film made to make people more sympathetic to the bee problem?

 

Okay, my smartphone just crashed sending a text message. At this rate, who needs an upgrade? I could just go back to my flip phone from junior high, at least it didn't do that.

 

Apparently there's speculation it was Jerry Seinfeld's pet project. I thought it might have been bankrolled by the Rose Parade on the down-low because that whole thing was shoehorned in towards the end.
