I have an image of Kanye coming into the thread and interrupting a conversation saying we are all great, but....the social thread on a Star Trek board should clearly have won best thread.

Sharing parts 1 and 2 of a 6 part interview (YouTube edits) with Marlon Brando in which he discusses the abuse of Native Americans, as well as ethnic and racial stereotypes directed at all cultures. It is apropos with respect to human rights abuses that, sadly, occur on a daily basis in this world, inexplicably, even today. Also, fear and hatred of a group of people leading to terrorism. One need only think of the horrific tragedy in Orlando for a recent example.

Skip to the 6:20 mark in Part 1 for the relevant points, as the prior footage is mainly "show biz" material from 1973. Note that the terms "American Indians" and "Indians" were still in use at the time.

    Part 1

Mr. Brando goes into more detail about the vitriolic hatred, stereotypes and abuse directed at Native Americans in Part 2. Especially as it relates to their portrayal in Hollywood films. Some poignant points are made in this second part which apply to every HUMAN being.

    Part 2

Feel free to ignore this post. Posting for those interested in RYL.
Just thought it was worth remembering how so many people, from such diverse backgrounds and cultures have been suffering the same indignities and hatred for centuries.
It's about basic civil rights and respect for humanity. This includes everyone.
It is time to give peace a chance and remember that we all want to be loved and treated with kindness and respect.

    Doesn't look pratical?

If you want to get into Tolkien start with The Silmarillion!

    *I did*

(I tried to find a gif or image of Black Widow saying that but couldn't
    -"Fine I'll do it myself.")

    Anyways.

Me: Hey, remember when Star Wars brought back Darth Maul on robot legs?
Mr. AMJ: Ahem. Spider robot legs, first. Don't forget that part.
Me: Heeeee. I love it. I consider it a gift that it is real. It's amazing. I still cannot believe how insane that is, and considering what the REST of the canonical Star Wars Story is, that is saying something.

Speaking of Crazy Old Maul, I'm looking forward to watching him on his original legs with many of you this evening for movie night.

I will likely be starting my own viewing closer to 8:00 Central than 7:30, just FYI. We have a very busy day today over here.

It was tough but at the same time fun.
-I read it when the Internet was switched off over Summer and just sunk into it over the course of a week.

The music stuff went over my head it was a nice idea though. Some chapters and parts were hard to get through, the pages of endless descriptions of Elf families and locations.
It was better when the story flowed near to the start when we follow Feanor and his war on Morgoth.
My favourite part was the earlier stuff with the Valar.

In the middle the story got kind of muddled for me and there were so many elf's that names started with Fin.

The tale of Beren and Luthien was good as well but Mim the Petty dwarf confuses me alot, the dwarves in the book aren't as easy to follow or understand.

The metaphysics also had me scratching my head at times wondering what was going on.
The locations and scene settings was hard for me as well. Nothing was described in too much detail so all sorts of images came up in my mind.
-I normally struggle with that when reading so I prefer more description like in ASOIAF than less. The character descriptions also were impossible to visuale and the Valar fkr instance. Do Valar exist in physical form? Do they wear armour?

Again the scale it's on is huge- with the fighting just smashing up mountains and breaking apart the land.
Locations as well seem to change and it's hard to visualise such a world when it's changing.

Sauron as a bat was a little weird.

The Second age Numenor chapter was a little short and deserved more but obviously Tolkien didn't get very far with that.

Rereading it is fun and always illuminating, makes it alot clearer.

So i was looking at ticket prices for Celebration 2017, in Orlando, and they're a lot cheaper than I thought they were. So I might actually go to that, which would be cool :p
