One of the things that truly made the OT special was it's use of metaphors to convey situations, the opening of ANH you have this tiny ship running from the huge Star Destroyer, symbolising the Rebellions almost hopeless task of fighting the Empire.

In TFA we have very similar themes, the Star Destroyer blocking out the light, symbolising the return of the darkside, Kylos shuttle arriving on Jakku, this massively towers over everything else in sight, stating "a badass has arrived" the use of lighting during Han's death, the sun is drained showing us the hope of Kylo's redemption has also been drained.

    I love those little details.

OP, I too enjoyed the white light literally going out on Kylo and being replaced with the red glow (of the Sith). That was a nice touch.

The "hand" interactions between Rey/Finn when they're running from the FO on Jakku. Finn grabs Rey's hand and she not only objects to it, but forcefully takes it back. He does it a second time and she protests, but she stays hand-in-hand with him until they both get knocked down from an explosion. Then a few moments later, Rey willingly offers Finn her hand.
