like his dad said, he will never meet anyone with more focus than he has. i think his schedule kinda shows that.

and if it's just one person playing that's not horrendous. and i bet he's trying to not think so much as PLAY, which is an interesting thing to think about. overthinking is not a good thing to do in golf.

on another note, that is exactly what made jerry rice the greatest wideout of all time. i've seen some footage of him at practice. when everyone else was taking a break, he was running routes or catching balls. at the end of the day he would make sure to run at least one more route after the final talk for the day. and i'll never forget the tale brian urlacher had of when he worked out with jerry when rice was nearing forty. there's this hill that rice runs EVERY DAY, and it took urlacher about nine to ten minutes to get up it. rice was sitting at the top, quite comfortable and apparently had been there for a while, and he smiled, didn't say anything and took off again. THAT is what makes someone the greatest. you can have all the talent in the world, but if you don't have a good work ethic behind it you will NEVER reach the full potential you have. and rice proved you don't have to be the absolute most physically gifted person in the world. he wasn't precisely fast on a track, but in a game? no one could catch him if he got in front of them.

Seven shots back going into the weekend... significant, but not insurmountable. He will need some help from Campbell and Perry, though.

Starting off today with a double bogey doesn't help. Currently even for the day, though, and 8 shots back of Campbell and Perry.

EDIT: make that 10 back. Pretty much out of the running, barring a miracle.

Tiger in the clubhouse at 4 under, which is currently tied for eighth.. but its also still 8 shots behind leader Kenny Perry (who still has 8 holes to play today)

Tiger and Phil a combined 9 under on the front nine today, though most of that was Phil's 6 under. He's just 1 back of the lead now, and Tiger 4 back.

All of a sudden, Tiger (and Phil) are both only 1 back of Kenny Perry!

What a day for that duo!

Tiger's failure to make the cut in the British Open is extremely disappointing.

I like how the media had Tiger as a lock to win both the US Open and the British Open after he won the preceding two tournaments.
