Some people came. Some people went. Some people were thrown out the door (while some smugly cheered). Some people became mods. Some people stepped down. Some people became mods and then stepped down shortly after (see: doing an "Everton"). Threads were created lamenting that the forums were dying. Threads were created saying that the Golden Age was behind us (again; or is that again, again; or again, again, again? I've lost track). Threads were created saying that the slowing down made things better and more intimate. Various sections of the boards fought with each other. Cliques were clique-y. Some forums became welcoming. Some forums became toxic. People vowed to keep posting and never meet anyone except online. People hardly posted but partied it up when meeting in person. The JCC is still spam. Pick your start and end points and I'm sure all the above will apply.
The forums were slimmed down as we dwindled to a last few desperate holdouts, eating rats and drinking melted snow. Then the Disney buyout was announced and we now have a goal of one billion members by 2016.
Be warned, for while posting "wtf" is now allowed, as the OP mentioned, you still cannot post a picture of a cartoon bee standing next to the letter S.
HEY IT'S BBYD You and I were good friends but I had a different screen name back then. Then you went on your missionary trip and we never heard from you again. Are you voting for Mitt Romney?
i've said b* quite a few times and got away with it. PREFERENTIAL TREATMENT Ramza Edit: You have to star that out. Diabolical laughter, etc.
