Well, you got the other 5 movies part right...

The novels of the films are as follows:

The Phantom Menace by Terry Brooks
Attack of the Clones by RA Salvatore
Revenge of the Sith by Matthew Stover, coming April 2005
Star Wars by George Lucas, ghostwritten by Alan Dean Foster
The Empire Strikes Back by Donald F. Glut
Return of the Jedi by James Kahn

    Pretty much anywhere.

    TPM: Terry Brooks
    AotC: R.A. Salvatore
RotS: Matthew Stover (not out yet, obviously)
    ANH: "George Lucas"
    TESB: Donald F. Glut
    RotJ: James Kahn

The last three (classic trilogy) are usually printed together in a single volume.

Argh! I swear that post wasn't there when I wrote this! :p

No dude, ANH was originally published in 76, but all the other books were released at the same time as the movies, usually by a few weeks early.

The novels came out more or less at the same time as the films. These "several people" are wrong, wrong, wrong.

This has got me thinking...Episode III would be more appropriate if titled "Return of the Sith" and Episode IV as "Revenge of the Jedi" instead of the other way around.

No they wouldn't, for the same reason that Lucas changed Jedi from Revenge to Return in the first place....Jedi should not be seeking Revenge, it is an emotion that is of the darkside.

alot of the emotions that luke expresses in RotJ are of the darkside. That boy got angry. ;)

But i dun think it was vengence Luke was after. He truly wanted to see his father redeemed and saved from the darkside.

LOL, only Jedi to tell the Emperor to piss and off and live to tell about it. ;)

C'mon, the legend of Luke Skywalker HAS to have gone wild after ROTJ:

Darth Vader, the Emperor, and Luke go into a room together. About 30 minutes later, only LUke comes out intact.

Ahhh, yes -- Goddenberry (formerly "Roddenberry")'s ST:TMP novelization with the infamous notational addenda, fuelling K/S-slashficcers the world over for decades to come...

    Exactly.

Rebel: Where were you during all the fighting, huh?
Luke: I was in the Emperor's throne room, fighting Darth Vader one-on-one while the Emperor watched.
    Rebel: Ulp!
Luke: Thirty minutes later, I walked out, the other two didn't.
    Rebel: Dude, you're my hero.
